Alex Marvez of FOX Sports reports that the Dolphins are signing free agent RB Isaiah Pead to a contract on Thursday.

  • Marvez adds that Pead will have to compete for a roster spot this summer, but offers some intriguing upside.
Pead, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He was in the final year of his four-year, $4.038 million rookie contract when St. Louis waived him a few weeks into the 2015 season.

Could be a good opportunity for him.

You summarized the point I was trying to make. It is an opportunity for him (good job by his agent) that might allow him to capitalize on his strong points: Special teams & pass catching/protection (go back and read CoachO OTAs and Training camp reports). His negatives in STL were that he came in thinking he was entitled and did not put in the effort, initially danced in the hole too much instead of cut & go and a couple of untimely fumbles. The things that that give me hope for him NOW are that he has gone thru adversity and still wants to play as evident by taking a make or break contract at this stage of his career.
Lastly there were a lot of bust (that never flashed early and like Pead are now on their last chance to flash)in this draft (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2012/draft.htm)

The Dolphins have found a running back who has agreed to take their money.

They’ll still be looking.

According to Alex Marvez of FOX Sports, the Dolphins are signing veteran running back Isaiah Pead.

Pead was cut early last year by the Rams, and spent three weeks with the Steelers after Le’Veon Bell was injured, but didn’t get a carry for the Steelers.

He only has 19 NFL carries, after missing the 2014 season with a torn ACL, so this is simply a flyer on a guy who was once a second-round pick. And for a team that has nothing beyond Jay Ajayi on the roster at the moment, it’s worth giving him a look.

My opinion is you are off based. Look at the numbers. Pead's last year before he blew out his year were good in terms of stats and impact (good blocker/ wedge buster). He was not here last year. Was only used as KR before that. Neither he or anybody else did a whole lot on KR while he was here.Do not underestimate how hard it is to come in during the season as opposed to training camp. Oh he was behind D. Williams whose is better than any Ram's back not named Gurley.

The day we cut Pead, this team improved greatly. I would take Trent Richardson over this guy.

Dolphins better be careful or they might start creeping up on the Browns as the most embarrassingly ran franchise in the NFL.
