Even with Purdy on the roster? Of course they would have to NOT win the Super Bowl this year for this to be even a question. Shanny has had a stiffy for Kirk for a LONG TIME now. Even going so far as to offer up the 2nd overall pick to Washington for him way back in 2017. Also, I can still see the Vikings and Cousins agreeing before he hits UFA. One thing is certain, Kirk Cousins is about to get paid....a-gain!

No, the whiners are projected to be over the cap next year.

Not out of the question. Would contending-with-a-bad-Quarterback Atlanta give us at least a 1 for Georgia College Native Stafford at next week's deadline???
Stafford would have to announce his retirement of course, but that isn’t out of the question.

The 11th player listed is Randy Gregory who carries a $14M cap hit but with Zero Dead-$ if he is released.
The savings from that move alone gets them under the cap.

That's an over-simplification but it illustrates how easy the Niners can maneuver.

I think it all depends on how things go with Purdy the next few games.

He’s played well. He deserves the praise. But… has he been challenged? The last 2wks suggest maybe teams are catching up. Or so, I hope as a Rams fan.

They have a SB roster. But the 9’ers don’t seem to know how to pick a QB.

For now, I just want to enjoy Mr Irrelevant throwing picks and losing games. If SF changes QBs again this off season it won't matter who they bring in. They never seem to get that right under Shanahan. Garappolo won way more than he lost but couldn't stay healthy two years in a row. Lynch drafted Trey Lance and that didn't work out. Now they think they've found the second coming of Joe Montana. We'll see.

To me, the blueprint to beat the whiners (easier said than done) is to stop them from running and force Purdy into 2nd and long and 3rd and long. The vikings did a good job of limiting the run game and then when forced to go down the field, Purdy made some mistakes.

No I don't see the Niners going after Cousins. I see teams like the Saints going after him.

I see the Niners taking a QB in the second or third round as a contingency. This is a deep draft in QBs. If nothing else they will get a good backup that becomes trade bait in 3 years.

Stafford is a great bridge QB. Problem is they need a kid learning behind him. Take one in this draft that has some upside.

Maybe by next year Bennett is a solid backup for us. Either way though they should draft another one they like and build some fucking competition heat in that room.

Same with TE. Same with RB. Dial up the pressure.

Cousins will be 36 next year, same age as Stafford.
Without being so beaten up.

The Rams signing Cousins would be contingent on Stafford retiring of course. I think that’s a possibility. The Rams don’t think they are in a rebuild. So that philosophy would lead me to think they’d go with a veteran QB if one was available and knows the system. Cousins will be the best available. He wouldn’t coat draft picks either.

I think they can fix that by dropping one of the big pay players like Gregory. But it would hamper them from going after a $35m/yr QB.
