Not Taysom Hill. That guy annoys the shit out of me (probably just the Saints though)... But... a run option guy to use like seems to be trending.

Perhaps for goal line plays, short yardage.

Would this be a compliment to the offense, or a distraction? Is this a trend we will continue to see with teams?

Cardinals' Steve Keim Compares CFL Signing Chris Streveler to Taysom Hill

The Arizona Cardinals see a lot of upside in newly signed quarterback Chris Streveler, who led the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to a Grey Cup title in the CFL.

"He has to make the team first, but he is someone we followed," general manager Steve Keim said of Streveler on the Doug & Wolf Show on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM (via Grant Gordon of NFL.com). "He's competitive, he's fun to watch, he's a gritty guy, he can really run, make plays with his feet."

In the last two years in the CFL, the quarterback showcased a dual-threat ability with 19 passing touchdowns and 22 rushing touchdowns in this stretch.

"It'll be interesting to see him in this offense," Keim said. "Maybe there is a little Taysom Hill; he brings different things to the table. But it's all projection."

While Taysom Hill is listed as a quarterback, he's filled a variety of roles during his career with the New Orleans Saints, lining up in the backfield, tight end, wide receiver and in multiple spots on special teams. He finished 2019 with 156 rushing yards, 234 receiving yards and 55 passing yards.

Streveler has that potential after showing off his athleticism during his CFL career, totaling 726 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns on 5.7 yards per carry this past season. He also spent time at receiver during college at Minnesota before transferring to South Dakota.

If the Cardinals are creative, they could get a lot of production out of the 25-year-old at multiple positions.

The CFL product could also become a true backup for Kyler Murray with only Drew Anderson currently under contract at the position.

Being a QB has a lot to do with scheme fit. Look at all AZ, and KC have done to build a team around the particular talents of their running QB's. The Rams would be foolish in the extreme to start to rebuild all over again. I don't understand the fans need to have their team constantly rebuilding to fit one guy.

Goff is a classic pocket QB with a good arm, good accuracy and enough mobility to extend plays. All he needs is a good o-line in front of him. He gets the team to a SB in 2018 and now because of 0-line issues he's not good enough? Goff is a very good QB fit for McVay's system. McConnell was brought in to expand upon that system not overhaul it. The problem with the offense was primarily in two areas. The poor play (IMO due to poor coaching by Kromer) in the pass game, and poor play in the run attack again led by poor o-line play (and again Kromer's purview).

I believe McConnell was brought in to circumvent Kromer and better incorporate the integration of both the run and pass game into a much more consistent system. Also, IMO I can see him installing more of a power run game. He has seen the value of a power run attack both in the Niner's offense in 2019, and when he was at SD State when the Chargers with LaDanian Tomlinson ran a power gap scheme.

Improve the o-line play and the run game and Goff will be just fine.

Your Kromer hate is freaking funny !!

O”Connell was brought in to help Mcvay get better in his play calling. The Rams didn’t have a real play caller. The hiring will help Kromer get back to the Nuts & Bults of the getting the young O”Line better. End of story

Your right about Goff being a good QB able to take a team to the Super Bowl,he has proved that. As far as integrating a player like Hill can always be an option. What kind of QB is Drew Brees & can he actually win a Super Bowl ?? It’s been a copy cat league & some team may try it, but safe to say chances are low it will The Rams

Jalen Hurts would be an interesting option. He won't be on anyone's list as a pure QB. But at 220-230 and a "good enough" arm would be able to play the jack of all trades type of player and make a bigger impact than he ever would simply playing QB.

No as a matter of fact I would be looking for a young pocket signal caller to develop behind Goff so that down the road we have another young fit who can plug into this offense without needing to change it if Goff misses time. All this scheme needs is a guy who is comfortable throwing from the pocket who can move well on the rollouts and whatnot.

Been looking at the QBs for that reason and "Captain" Morgan is my huckleberry.

Taysom Hill is the classic overachiever. He reminds me of a wobbly armed Tim Tebow. Put him in full time and I am positive he would be exposed.
