Went for a walk after the game and did a lot of thinking on what went wrong.

McVay play calling. He really needs to stop running the ball on 1st down vs good defenses against the run. They may be able to run against bad defenses but it doesn't work against good ones. He didn't learn this vs. the 49ers week 18 and @TB in the divisional round. If they do not gain yards on a passing play on 1st down at least the defense won't be expecting a run on 2nd down. Run it then. Whatever, this offensive line is not good enough to run the ball on 1st down.

Akers might have a fumbling problem. When we have a lead turn to Michel. As explosive as Akers is, when we have a lead we need to go Michel.

McVay game management : On the play with the bad shotgun snap we already had a big lead and were in field goal range. He needs to understand better when to play conservative. On that note no team should trust their defense with a one score lead late in the game. He tried to that vs. the 49ers and it didn't work. It looked like he was going to do it again on the drive late when Akers fumbled.

4 fumbles. is what went wrong.
Rams played great to win, almost impossible to do that with those 4 turnovers.

Mcvay needs to stop trying not to lose and start trying to win. Makes no sense to run 3 times give the ball back with 4 minutes then with 41 seconds he goes for it? WTF stop it now put your foot on their neck and push down

but they didnt.. the passed on 3rd down and no one was open... and even then the game should have been over - akers had a 1st down the next time we got the ball and fumbled it away.

mcvay did nothing strategically wrong.. besides perhaps leaving akers in

The players basically had 4 fumbles in one half of football..... thats not playing calling

You almost never win in the playoffs when you lose the turnover battle let alone lose it 4-2. We gave them a chance to beat us and it's not the first time. We were able to over come it but it would be nice to not have to the next 2 games. Jourdan had a great article headline recently "Matt Stafford can over come turnovers and win games but he shouldn't have to"

your wasting your time Ellard80, some here want to just blame McVay today, that's the real head scratcher if you ask me.

I feel the same way. Sloppy play from the players. And it was stuff we haven't seen for years from this group. Ramsey getting burnt deep. Kupp with a fumble. Akers with 2 fumbles. Gay coming up short on a 47 yard kick. Bad snap from Allen.

Without these crazy mistakes, we're bowing down to McVay for his game plan and play calling today. I'm not saying he's blameless, but I'd definitely put the brutal 2nd half mainly on the players.

Oh ya for a 1 yard loss after you run up the middle twice for nothing. No he didn’t have the first down the next time when he fumbled he was at the 26 and the first down was the 30. Did the same thing in the 9er game but you can keep defending his calls if you want.

if we had lost this game, mcvay would get a lot of the blame for his decision not to rotate sony in on that drive akers fumbled on. i don't have as much of an issue with his play calling today, i think he called a good game but the fumbles gave the bucs life over and over. akers almost single handedly gave this game away but it was mcvay's decision to keep riding him.

I love the strategy of Akers 1st half, Michel second half if they have the lead.

yeah the turnovers are killers no doubt but player need to make plays and protect the ball.

What happened was fumbles. Think about it. If you don't fumble or snap the ball when you should not have . Rams coast. End of second. Outside run and you still fumble. Would have made it 27/3 at the half. Not on McVay. Players have to take care of the ball. Plain and simple.

Also while trying to move the ball and kill clock.. we threw it to Kupp.. who also fumbled. And the shotgun snap was probably going to be a pass as well..

Turning it over 4 times on the road against Brady and the defending champions is what happened.

Sounds like a complete disaster. The Rams are THAT good.

I want to see if you can land on your head and secure the ball too :quiet:, the other was a great strip...

for sure, not disputing that. but i guess what i'm saying is that as head coach, just the nature of the position, he would have to shoulder blame for the loss because of his decision to keep rolling with akers. one thing i'm always upset about is a perceived lack of situational awareness by mcvay at times. this was another one of them but i'm glad we pulled it off.

So let me get this straight.

Rams throw it, Sean McVay is pass happy and abandons the run to quickly.

Rams run it, they need to stop doing that on early downs.

What the hell are they supposed to do then? Lol

There's a lot of things to correct. Cooper Kupp fumble and a botch snap aren't the norm.

Cams first was so close. His second was bad. Trust he cleans that up.

I thought mcvay called a great game. It's not his fault the team when full meltdown. I mean, the kicker didn't even have enough distance for a 45 yard fg ffs. Absolute clown show apart from Stafford. Should of been a 30 pt blow out.
