I was never suspect to the Yankee hate that plagues most people, probably because I have my own storied, equally as hated franchise on my belt. I've always said no matter how much you hate the Yankees, you gotta applaud Jeter, one of the few consistently good players, consummate professional and just a great icon for the league.

Never wanted to make a name for himself, never wanted to be bigger than the team like some of his teammates, he just came and played good ball, would have loved a shortstop like him on the Cardinals. Would have solved a lot of our team problems in the last few years.

I am a Yankee fan, grew up listening to them on the radio while working in Grampas garden as a kid. But these days I am more of a baseball fan and really enjoy seeing guys like Jeter out there on the field hustling every play. The only hate I really had was for Manny Ramerez. He just rubbed me the wrong way, with his whole swagger that he carried around.

Jeter is an all time great. He truly is Captain Clutch. I have watched him his entire career and he has always come up with big plays in tight spots. The Jeter Flip is a great example. He accomplished so much and he was basically just a singles hitter.

After reading about all the Yankee legends as a kid I am grateful that I got to see one in my lifetime.
