I had a chance to catch up on Jourdan's podcast (11 Personnel), and came away unexpectedly distressed.

This is a paraphrasing of what she said over a few sentences from her "lurking as an insider": The Rams will poetically use Jalen Ramsey as the key to this next phase (as he was for this last SB run), as they push the emphasis to offense. They will make up on offense what they lose on defense. McVay will have fun again with the reduced expectations. Take the "over" next season as the games are bound to be high scoring.

Ummm. I have concerns. With a defense that will be a few notches below the bend and break from last season, and the SERIOUS questions we have on offense, how can we bank on the offense getting into any rhythm with the 10 or so snaps they'll get per game?

I'm leaning towards agreeing with the strategy of taking the over, but still think we may be shut out in the process. Do THAT math.

I love McVay, but counting on him coming up with something that will make up for greater defensive shortcomings is beyond unrealistic. I knew exactly what Belicheat was going to do against us defensively in the SB, and look how impressive our offense looked.

Maybe we ARE actually tanking for Caleb? Need to go change my vote...

Well, make sure you take into account our top 2 offensive weapons were either out with injury, or severely hampered with a chronic injury... and cooks dropped a TD and Goff missed him on another. Realistically, we certainly should have won that game.

At any rate, no matter how much I'd absolutely dislike next season, if I was guaranteed Caleb if we tanked this year, I'd do it without any questions. That is a superstar QB that you should have for the next 10-12 seasons. Yeah, I know that there are no guarantee's about prospects, but some are nearly certain. He is. I'd take the next Mahomes for one terrible year. Easily.

This actually gets me excited. The most important part of D these days is making the stop when it matters most. You don't need a shutdown D and most teams don't have one.

I still say Cooks dropped both passes even though the one was knocked out of his hand and the other was PI by holding his left arm

Still both catches were catchable and I think Kupp would have caught both of them

I don’t see any scenario a McVay coached team finishes low enough for Caleb.

I like the strategy of LOADING UP the offense.

Make one side of the ball a strength, and this is McVay’s bread and butter. Go score points, as many as you can.

Yes… We need to have SOMETHING on defense, but that cupboard isn’t bare having Donald there.

The Chiefs were 16th in defense PPG. There were 5 playoff teams WORSE than that!

A defense around 20th is probably good enough for a really good offense.

I like the Rams plan.

At least, it should make for watchable games.

I'm not really expecting a lot from the Rams for the 2023 season. If they play over .500 then great. I know they will tell us its not a rebuild. But its as close to one as you can get without calling it one.

Pretty easy to see actually. We would have picked 6th this year with Ramsey, Floyd, Robinson, Gaines, Rapp, Scott, Long...etc., and a fucked up o-line. No guarantee our o-line will be better and our d-line sure as hell won't be as good. It IS entirely possible that we become doormats this season thereby putting into play a VERY HIGH selection in the 2024 draft.
