1. I am seriously thinking about cutting the cord.

2. If I get NFL Gamepass can I connect my desktop pc to my Sony smart tv to watch it?

3. I am a big Yankee fan and have read that Sling TV carries Yes Network, but didn’t see it on their list.

4. Firestick supposedly has Yes. Would that work on a Sony Smart tv or is that overkill?

5. Direct TV Now has both Yes Network and BigTen. Can I get that on my PC and connect it to TV?

6. I read that I can use my laptop for Direct TV Now and NFL GamePass. But will that always be buffering?

7. I also read that I could do Gamepass on Kodi or Plex. It looks like Plex requires an antenna and receiver. Is Kodi the same way?

Reddit streams on your laptop then HDMI from your laptop to your TV. Been doing it for years.

1. I am seriously thinking about cutting the cord. Do it!

2. If I get NFL Gamepass can I connect my desktop pc to my Sony smart tv to watch it? I dont know.

3. I am a big Yankee fan and have read that Sling TV carries Yes Network, but didn’t see it on their list. Yankees suck, but when I cut the cord, I went with Playstation Vue, it includes NESN which broadcast both the Red Sox and Bruins. In most streaming services there is a local package included, so you can get news and local broadcasts like cable. Not sure what that would include for you though. That being said, if you have a smart TV or device like a fire, apple tv, roku, etc you can get YES. I have Big 10 in my Playstation Vue subscrtption so that should be easy.

4. Firestick supposedly has Yes. Would that work on a Sony Smart tv or is that overkill? Yes and No but do what you have to do to get YES. Plus overkill or not, its not a big deal.

5. Direct TV Now has both Yes Network and BigTen. Can I get that on my PC and connect it to TV? Dont know.

6. I read that I can use my laptop for Direct TV Now and NFL GamePass. But will that always be buffering?Dont know

7. I also read that I could do Gamepass on Kodi or Plex. It looks like Plex requires an antenna and receiver. Is Kodi the same way? I have Kodi....its great and borderline illegal but effective. You can get all games on Kodi......a friend told me lol.

I cut the cord 2 years ago. Im old so it was tough lol. As 50 year old I was scared. I started by keeping cable and trying PSVue to see what i would get. After about 2 months, I knew I could stream effectively. It is different, like you no longer can really channel surf as there are no channels, just a bunch of apps really.

The way I do it is probably not the most efficient way but i did cut my cable bill in half. I own basic cable and internet. $69.99 per month. I subscribe to Playstation Vue for $39.99 per month and Netflix. I have all my local news channels and anything you would get with basic cable with VUE. I get my Sox and Bruins from NESN (included in Vue) and Celtics on NBCNE also part of the package. I also get RedZone with Vue and watch the Rams on my Kodi.

There are smarter guys on here who could do it cheaper probably, but that is how I got off of cable and have no regrets.

Okay, I figured out the Gamepass problem. I found an NFL app on the tv in google play. I wanted Gamepass for replays and all 22. So I just cancelled Sunday ticket.

@Boston Ram I was told Firestick has Yes but not BigTen. I read tha Sling has Yes but couldn’t find it when I downloaded it. I read that Hulu has the BigTen Network, but couldn’t find that.

I don’t use Direct Tv much. I can wait for Netflix to update most shows that I want and I am getting tired of TWD and even Vikings. So I won’t miss them. But I would miss Penn State games and Yankees games, so I still have some legwork to do.

If you are talking about directly through your smart tv my experience is that smart TVs are very slow and problematic with streaming anything. My laptop that I use has a broken hinge so I have it pretty much permanently situated below my 60” Samsung. I get great quality with an occasional blurry screen. Most of the time it has a perfect picture just like I used to get with Direct TV. The only downside is that I can’t record games or rewind to rewatch plays.

What kind of smart TV do you have? For example to you have one with a roku OS?

Sling does carry both I’m told. Sometimes you have to dig. Also your local could effect it. Also with a smart TV you can download on the TV both YES and big10togo.

Streaming seems like just a hassle. I like turning on the tv and just having things there rather than spend hours trying to find and decide what to watch. Me personally I have xfinity with NFL Redzone. I get my sports, FXX (for Simpsons), and all the other basic stuff. Plus a huge on demand library of tv and movies.

Adding all the streaming, plus a strong internet connections all adds up and basically the same costs.

XFINITY does have a great thing going on and also offers cell service.

I cut the cord over a decade ago .. never looked back .... I have the internet ... neighbor has an antenna for their TV ... and there are 4 sports bars within 2 miles of where I live. I haven't missed a game in over a decade.

I have been using Sling TV foe about a year now. The streaming works fine for me, with no buffering. I pay about $30 a month and it covers 3 streaming sticks.
