I forgot Saul was a reserve from 70-74. He took over at Center for Ken Iman in '75 and went to 6 pro-bowls. Are you paying attention Barrett Jones? Rich wearing the Blue & Whites through me off...

I finally found another player to add to this list, Like @Den-the=Coach would say, I hate leaving anyone out!

* Center/OG - Tony Slaton - 1985-1989
Tony Slaton1.jpg

He plated in 68 games as a Ram, and had 1 KR for 18 yards.

He played well enough that people still want his autograph!

Just a few more 'Tid-Bits" on these players!
* Center - Tim Barnes - 2012-Present
Tim Barnes1.jpg

Although he's been on the Roster for 4 seasons and 61 games, and had 2 KR's for 7 yards. He's only been our starting center for a short time! I think he'll have a Great year this year!

* Center/OG - Bern Brostek - 1990-1997
Brostek4.jpg

he played really well in his 8 seasons and 105 games!!he only had 1 Fumble but he had 1 FR!

* OG - Tom Nutton - 1998-2005
Nutten3.jpg

I wish I had more photos of him to share! In his 8 seasons with the GSOT he played in 77 games, including I don't know how many Play-Off games, and 2 Super Bowls! and he had 3 FR's in his career!

* OG - Duane Putnam - 1952-1959
Putnam1.jpg
In Putnam's 9 seasons with the Rams he played in 95 games and had 4 KR's for a total of 24 yards.

* Center/OG/OT - Rich Saul - 1970- 1981
Saul1a.jpg
" One of the Rams BEST OF ALL TIMES!"
OK! He did have 2 Fumbles in his career BUT, he had 6FR's! And don't for get his 6 Pro Bowls from 1976 thru 1981! And SB XIV!!!!!(y)(y)

I would just like to say I would be happy as a pig-in shit to have ANY of these O-Lineman playing for the Rams today!!:D

Actually some really solid players wore #61 for the Rams. Putnam must have been really good. (Before my time) He gets forgotten among top Ram guard discussions. I had him at #4 on my top 10 list in January, after only Mack, Harrah and Scibelli. I had Timmerman and Kent Hill after Putnam.

Bill George

Bill George had a great career in Chicago before he came to the Rams!
But he only played 1 year and in 14 games for the Rams, and had 2 FR's. in 1966. In hi career he played LB/OG/MG/and DT!

Ah, Rich Saul. I was in attendance at his last game as he had announced it was his retirement season. The crowd at Anaheim gave him a long round of applause in appreciation just before the start of a play. The play was delayed and Saul waved to the crowd. It was a pretty awesome moment in Rams history. Anyone else here at that game?

Awesome memory. I wasn’t at that game. But I did drive down for a few games with my dad at the big A. Good times.

My Dad bought season tickets immediately when they moved to Anaheim in 1980 when I was 13 years old. I lucked out being able to go to almost all home games until they moved to St. Louis.

I was also at Jim Everett's first game. The whole stadium was going nuts screaming "Everett, Everett, Everett" over and over, and really went nuts when he ran onto the field for his first offensive series. Was another cool moment in Rams history!

While I liked Tim Barnes the person and how he worked at the game, he was sadly lacking in talent, and by far the worst center in Ram history. Sean McVay's very first personel move was to release TB. I think he's now 2nd string C for the Whiners.

That was just one play Den. TB was clueless about line play calls and identifying blitz schemes. His pass blocking was so bad there was no way Rams qb's could run 7 step drop pass plays.
Gurley had to fight off opposing D for the hand off on running plays half the time.

I blame a lot of the OL troubles on Fisher. Saffold was the only OL with much experience and the rest were clueless and got constantly "schooled". Having no vet experience on the OL was just plain stupid.

Now the Rams have a good mix of seasoned veterans and youth and field one of the best OLines in the NFL. After this years draft and drafting one or two more OL next year the future looks good for the Rams OL.
