I found this great picture of #57 Don Paul (he’s the one blocked out) helping lift head coach Sid Gillman after the RAMS won the 1955 Western Conference Championship beating the Green Bay Packers 31 -17.

Sadly they went on to lose the NFL Championship to the Cleveland Browns 38 – 14 on their home field, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in front of 85,693 fans.

The great Norm Van Brocklin threw 6 interceptions in that game and ironically one was taken back 65 yards for a TD by a guy on Cleveland also named Don Paul! o_O

I love this nostalgic stuff!

@DaveFan’51 do you have any memories of the 55 season?

To be Honest I'd have to go through some starts to jog my memory! But!!

Two things stand out to me in the Championship game:
* Former Rams Player, Don Paul, Intercepted VanBrocklin and Ran it back 65 yards for a Td!!
* And VanBrocklin threw a 67 yard BOMB to Skeets Quinlan for his ONLY Td pass of the game!
I hope that satisfies your taste buds for now!:D

I thought it was the same guy also, but using Pro-Football Reference

I love the photo of the starting offense from 1950. Those teams from '49 - '51 bore a remarkable resemblance to the '99 -01 teams. Even the 73 yard TD from Warner to Bruce for the winning score echoed Van Brocklin to Fears 73 yard TD to win the '51 championship.

In his 2 seasons with the Rams he played in 28 games and had 1 FR, which he made the Best of, he ran it back 67 Yds. for a TD!

* MLB - Trev Faulk - 2004-2005

* LB - Mike Reilly - 1982

He only played in 9 games for the Rams, No stats!, and later became a Coach of some kind at Kentucky.

LB - O.J. Brigance 2001-2002

OK! Again, not much in the way of photos on these Players, But they made it to the NFL so they deserve their due Credit!

* LB Don Paul -1948-1955

Went to 3 Pro Bowls and in his 8 seasons with the Rams played in 87 games where he had 11 INT's for 173 Yards / with a long of 32Yds. and he had 6 FR's.

LOT/DT - Bobby Cross - 1954-1955 ( He also wore #73)

* LB - Bill Jobko - 1958-1962

In his 5 seasons as a Ram he played in 57 games and had 3 INT's for a total of 23 Yds. and 9 FR's.

Yes I put him in my TOP 5 DE's of all Time, on the Rams!

One of the newly-drafted players we haven't discussed much is #57, John Franklin-Myers. It will be interesting to see where coach Wade plugs JFM into his Ram killing machine.
