Will play Sunday according to NFL Network, just said it. I don't know how to post a link
For links, i just highlight it, hit copy, then just paste it right into the body of the message here. Really simple!

Pretty sure that is not based on any new information but bolder interpretations of what McVay said.

I can't find any new material on that since McVay's presser.

Would like to see Reynolds and Hodge get a few snaps. Improves the depth if needed down the stretch and takes some pressure off of the starters.

Not sure it is a good thing to have all three starters catching 80 plus balls with 100 plus targets. Eventually someone will get hurt. So spread it around a little more if possible.

According to McVay it's still uncertain. They're doing well in the concussion protocol so somebody on NFLN may have projected those comments to mean they will play for sure. But as of now it's still uncertain as the concussion protocol is a 5 step process that they must do and must be cleared by an independent doctor in order to be cleared to play. That isn't done yet so nobody can say they definitely will play yet.

So let me understand this.
You just said the Rams should sit their (arguably) best two offensive weapons so their backups can get some playing time?

Reynolds having had 2 catches, and Hodge one?

I like them as well, but “C’mon Man!”

You really said that?

I believe that what he's saying is to work those two guys in a bit more with some spot snaps on gameday. Maybe work one of them in for a series. Much like we do with Gurley, giving him a series off and giving Brown some action.

If we have a 3+ TD lead and the game locked up? Sure! Play 'em! Otherwise...No.

I hear what you're saying, and I get the logic, but I think, as we saw against Seattle the guys are already good to go, there wasn't a significant drop off, Goff didn't rely purely on Woods and Gurley which shows he has confidence in the guys too. Also, if you listen to the McVay presser he comments on the fact that Coach Yarber teaches WR concepts rather than single spots so the guys have some flex and can just step-in to any receiver spots.

Credit to these coaches, they really know what they're doing.

Yeah, if the game is in hand, I do think they should get some of the depth players in there.

I hope McVay does more of that when the opportunities present themselves. I think those two guys can be really good back-ups but, without real playing time, not as sure... so I'd like them to get in there (again, with the caveat) more.

Yeah, Gurley gets a breather every once in a while.....but I bet I'm not the only one that start griping about having Brown out there is not as effective as Gurley only to see Brown do well and I feel somewhat admonished for saying something in the first place.

But yes, it would be nice to have a more experienced "2nd string". But there is a reason they are 2nd string. because the other guys are better. and even when the 2nd string guys do well, we want our first string in there because they will do better.

Umm no, but instead of taking 30 snaps a half, maybe give them 23 or 24.

My fear is if you keep running Kupp across the middle or Cooks on deep in routes, they might not be around come playoff time.

So just stating that they could take a little pressure off of them and reduce some of those opportunities where they can a take beating while at the same time improving the quality of their depth in case they do lose a guy.

And really it would be ideal getting the TEs more involved instead of using Kupp like a TE on some of those short 3rd down passes. Again, in an effort to reduce some of the punishment he gets on those plays.

Fair enough, and I kind of agree in theory, and I like both Hodge and Reynolds...
I guess the sample size is a bit small, and the Rams, have not yet (other than AZ), had a comfortable enough lead to rest the A teamers.
OTTH, now that McVay has seen them both under pressure, he may be willing to give them more playing time.

Bottom line, I reacted a bit too strong, my bad.

I know how good Reynolds is after leaving college leading the SEC in receiving but this Hodge kid came out of nowhere and seems to be a gamer.

I would consider giving Cooks extra time.
He is starting to collect concussions.

He goes across the middle and being short seems to be susceptible to helmet to helmet contacts because he lowers his head, there have been a few other close calls before last week. Hopefully, it does not continue and before the Super Bowl, I don't think he suffered any in the NFL with the Saints or Pats, but I am concerned as well because that's two concussions since February.

I can see it helping more this week with the altitude. McVay could go two TE sets a little more. That might surprise the defense. The only bad thing is the Rams depend on the WRs to block and Reynolds missed a big one last week. With the game in hand I would give them some reps too. Woods got hurt last year late against the Vikings. Somethings to think about.
