Dude just can’t seem to stay healthy.

Carson Wentz 's new start in Indianapolis has met an interruption that might last longer than a few days.
The Colts quarterback is set to see noted foot specialist Robert Anderson in the near future, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. A further timeline for Wentz's return will be established following the quarterback's visit with Anderson, Garafolo added, with minor surgery being a possibility, per Rapoport.
Backup Jacob Eason took Wentz's reps with the first team Friday.
Wentz's first camp barely got off the ground before he suffered the foot injury, which Indianapolis initially hoped was minor, but appears to be growing more concerned about the seriousness of it. The hope is to avoid a surgical procedure, but if Wentz is required to undergo an operation, his time away from the field could stretch into the regular season. The latter scenario isn't expected to involve many games, Rapoport added.
For now, the Colts are thankful the start of the season is six weeks away. But with Wentz still being new to the team, it seems he'll miss valuable training camp time due to the ailment, if not more.
Wentz is in his first training camp with the Colts, who sent two draft picks to Philadelphia for the former No. 2 overall pick of the 2016 draft. The quarterback is attempting to reclaim a future that was once very bright in Philadelphia before a disastrous 2020 season led to the end of his time with the Eagles.

Jacob Eason has real talent, he just came in very raw in 2020. But if Wentz is out of any length of time he might never get his start back. I was impressed with Eason's arm talent and he had decent accuracy. He was just raw in reading and in the consistency of his mechanics affecting his accuracy. If he has got that improved he has an NFL arm. The Colts got a guy in the 4th round last year in Eason who has a legitimate shot as a starting QB in the NFL.

If Carson can't play this year you have to believe his career is in real jeopardy. If it's a bone spur or just needs a cleanup of fragments he should be able to return but it would have to be this TC or the Colts will be forced to go with Eason. If Eason had stayed in college another year he probably would have been a 1st round pick at least in the mid to late first round. As it was in 2020 he was viewed as a 2-3 year project.

I think the Colts saw Wentz as a bridge QB to keep them in contention vs TN while Eason develops. I couldn't argue with that type of thinking because Eason has Josh Allen type arm talent. Allen took 3 years to develop and I think the Colts saw that kind of potential in Jacob, i.e. a QB who needs to learn to read and improve his mechanics.

I get no satisfaction by Wentz getting injured again.

I wish him a quick recovery and hope he plays well when he's back on the field for the Colts.

I've always been a fan that wants the best players on the field when they are playing the Rams.

I'm sure many Packers fans were happy Aaron Donald was only 60% of himself during their victory last year in the divisional round.

I'm not wired that way.

If possible, I want to beat the best teams when their best players are on the field.

That’s how I am wired too.

Don’t get me wrong... in the moment of competition I can be very self confident and talk some shit. Maybe even embarrass myself.

But I can’t root for bad things on people. I think that carries over in ways I can be happy for others. (y)

I have no idea what the specific injury happens to be, so I can't say he should buck up and play. But.......

If you're a young player, first or second round pick, who's established as a starter, I could see taking some caution with injuries. However there are those (Stafford, Goff, etc) who, no matter what the situation, they find a way to play. I'd think, in Wentz's case, he's an established starter with a reputation as an injury prone player, so he ought to buck it up through the injury. But I guess that's the difference between "injury prone" and "tough". Some guys have to have a broken leg (except for Youngblood) to miss time. Others get a hangnail and they're in the trainers room.

Wow and tough start to the year for them with Seattle and us both at home. If they start 0-2 there it's going to be hard to recover

Hmmm... All things considered, I'm thinking we got far better value out of Goff.
