The reason it looks like one had no competitive drive and the other did is because of offensive coordinators. Remember how Bradfords 1st year was all check down to keep him safe and in the game. He was coached to do that. Then Martz was like, who cares about PIs and if my QB gets plastered. Plus of course, the talent around the 2 QBs can't even be compared. I remember after Bradford threw an interception he chased the DB down after running about 50 or 60 yards. No, Bradford was competitive he just had shit for an offense and then shit for luck. He was pretty brittle. I am not saying he was even close to Warner in talent. Just saying two completely different opportunities.
Player has to be accountable too don't you think? I agree Bradford wasn't maximized. But then again stick Payton Manning in his shoes and things almost surely would have looked different.
Point is he just wasn't a dog. Least not to my eye dudes.

I don't think they succeeded much more than with the Rams. Maybe they were better fits for other defenses. But they are who they are when it comes to being able to stop a guy in his tracks or dragging him down five or ten yards after contact.
Having a good QB is incredibly important. Gotta have one if one has any hopes of a deep playoff run.
But having a good HC and OC is just as important.
Gotta have both plus a good FO, too.

The idea of drafting a possible franchise quarterback is a solid one. As good as Donald is we didn't win a championship until we got our quarterback. That position impacts a game more than any other. Sam Bradford was graded out to be a possible franchise quarterback in college. He checked enough boxes. When you don't have a legit quarterback and that guy is there for you, you have to take him. Sure, it didn't work out. He didn't turn out to be that guy. But at the time it was considered a good pick by most.
In other words, you have to have talent in multiple areas to go deep in the playoffs and win a Superbowl?
Rams coaches didn't ruin Bradford. Bradford came into the league (just like Gurley) as damaged goods. Bradford's first 3 years he was relatively healthy (42 of 48 games played) and then BAM!! the injury bug hit. He played 7 games over the next 2 years. Injuries ruined Bradford. The first and most devastating was a non contact injury. But had he remained healthy, then the coaches would have ruined him, more than likely.
the first one he got pushed out of bounds by some fuckwit on the panthers team who acted like he made the play of the year. pushing a qb out of bounds who was already running out of bounds. what a hero.

then when he came back the next season jeff fisher thought it was a good idea to have a left tackle who was coming back from injury himself and hadn't played a down yet in preseason block on bradford's blindside mid drive and we all know the result of that.
then they shipped him away for nick foles. jeff fisher, qb whisperer.

The TV color-commentator was Brian Billick. Confidently stated Bradford hurt his hamstring. I'm watching and thinking ... that ain't no hamstring. I never liked Billick after that.
that's exactly what i would think. the qb is clutching his knee. yep it's a hamstring.

I remember Billick being so dismissive about the possibility of a serious injury. I found that arrogant and stupid. Something like that meant a lot to a die-hard Rams' fan. Almost ten years later, and I still remember that moment; and genuinely dislike Brian Billick. Bradford was actually having a good season to that point.
i was devastated when sammy got injured. almost to the point where i didn't want to watch football again that season. but clemmons was easy to root for.
the next year was even worse. we planned a trip to the usa and we were going to st louis for the cowboys game. i was so excited when i received my tickets the morning of the browns preseason game. then mortified when bradford went down and did his knee again. then to rub salt in the wound even more i had to witness the vikings game before we left for the states.
luckily an unknown qb stepped up and made it a real close game. got to see quick catch a 50 yard td right in front of us and then jenoris jenkins get the pick 6 in front of us. good times. although they lost in the end at least it was a good game. can't think of the qb's name. austin? dunno, he wasn't that good but i'll be forever grateful to him for balling out in that game.
