Now don’t get me wrong. I love this time of year. Love me some lights. I’m not quite Clark Grizwald, but I do take pride in lighting up our house pretty good during the Christmas season.

So what about you guys? Let me see some of your creations! I’d love to know some of your traditions, hear some of your stories, and hear how high your December electric bill gets!

Me, I like to try to get them up just after Thanksgiving. I’ll pop a couple Sierra Nevada Celebration Ales put some Christmas music on my ear buds and go to work.

(I mean, drinking beer while climbing on the roof. What could possibly go wrong?!!)

Oh and I usually do it at night, and plug in the lights while I run them, so I can see it all come together, and catch any bad bulbs right away. That’s the only way to go.

Also, I like to route them all to one switch in our entryway, so my wife can just flip the switch as dusk approaches, in case I’m not home yet.

So, maybe I am a bit like Clark Griswald. Minus Cousin Eddie.

So there is the good. Again. I’d love to see some of your homes.

Next, I’m going to post, ...well let’s just say some of the efforts that didn’t quite meet the spirit of the season....

First of all, I get it. Not everyone likes to decorate their home for Christmas. I’m not here to judge. If you don’t, it’s cool.

But come on, people! If you do it. Do it right!

My first category, is the lazy guy. This is probably the same guy who parks crooked in the parking lot, or never mows his lawn.

These, my friends, are Decoration fails. Bah humbug. Then there is the big loop guy:

Apathetic guy:

The guy trying to soak in the glory of his ambitious neighbor:

And the guys who’s downright given up:

But let’s be clear, my friends, these are all lazy efforts.

...and then there is the guy with the lazy strand.

Not enough room to reach the outlet, Sparky?

Ah, then there is the latest craze in “instant lights!” With a projector. It’s like the Chia Pet of Christmas lighting.

Well let me tell you somethin’, young fella. I don’t like it!!! Not one bit!...now get off my lawn.

And then there is this guy. Still has his crap up from Halloween,

So let’s just toss a Santa hat and lights on that and call it an effort!! :cautious:

Finally, there is this “Pease” of work.

Hey, the good folks in Mississippi like to get in the Christmas spirit, too.

....Next, are the ooohhh, so very clever.

:rant:I see you, smart guy!

There was actually a story in the news the other day about a would-be brave citizen who “rescued” one of these dangling dummies.

Of course the hero was quite relieved, and a little embarrassed to be told of his misjudgment....after 3 hours of CPR was performed on the lifeless bag of straw.

This is just a NO. But something tells me a certain fan in Philadelphia May be into this “adornment of the crapper”.

Oh that’s just great. We’re all going to watch Rudolph just bleed out in front of the kids.

....aaaand finally, The Obscene.

Things sure to get you put on the naughty list.

Hey, we all have to go sometime. I get it. But this decoration is just “Fake news” at its finest.

I mean, he didn’t reach the status of “Saint” Nick by relieving himself on Mrs. Chamberlains lawn.

I’m thinking he straps on a catheter.

B1358683-05F5-43C5-B6AA-2C2325BBA42C.jpeg

And then there is this grand holiday Marquee! Oh what a way to welcome holiday shoppers downtown for a little Christmas shopping!

A little hot chocolate, perhaps Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” playing, and a hearty “F*ck off!” Scrolling across the night sky!

2E131271-A1C2-45D0-B9D3-60FCBCB4AAEA.jpeg

Ah, and then there is this lovely “twig and berry” candle to set the mood, while you sing Fa la falic la falic lalala.

Finally, some great decorating advise, for you good folks in Southern California and Florida....

This thread is flying under the radar.

Some of those... HILARIOUS!

We decorate more inside than out. We have garland and lights around the front door, but that’s about it. I use the excuse it’s hard to get that stuff down if the snow has set in for the winter... which it normally does around Christmas.

Inside we have a fair bit of greenery, and we put up 2 trees. One for our family room and one in our bedroom (which is a Rams dedicated tree - nothing but football and Rams on that baby!).

I'm one who likes the lights straight and pointing in the same direction.

My place in 2016. All new lights this year and all LED. Had to rent a 65' manlift to do the big trees.

Beautiful man!

We have a guy at the end of our neighborhood that rents one for a huge Redwood tree. You can see it from the shopping center a half mile away.

I live out in the country and I can see mine from a mile away. I will post a picture of the house this year.
