Is this dude off to a hot start or what. It seems like every player on that OLB depth chart has made enormous strides, to include a player moved over to the group a couple weeks ago.

Coaches pay attention to that stuff. IMO this dude is making a name for himself already.

Certainly no argument from me, Merlin.

McVay has demonstrated two things as HC with the Rams so far.

1. He can select and hire exceptional asst coaches.

2. He gives them the latitude needed to teach and develop players. Both rookies and vets.

It’s an amazing thing to see from such a young HC. I’m kinda in awe, tbh.

He's way smarter than you'd expect someone his age/experience. And this bodes well because he could end up with a long career with the Rams. When he has more experience he will be even better.

With him, Snead and Goff the next 12 or so years should be a fun ride.

It would be great if Wade Phillips was mentoring Shula as a potential 3/4 DC replacement for whenever he chooses to retire. Seems Phillips is going to want to slow down one of these days as he ain't no spring chicken anymore.

I'd keep Wade around even if he had to attend practice in a power chair. That's how much I love that dude being our DC.

But yeah if Shula keeps going like he has (this is his first year as a real positional coach) he is going to have teams sniffing around for him to be DC. And maybe one of them will be one of the offensive position coaches who get a HC job because they had a cup of coffee with McVay. :p

But he seems to enjoy what he is doing so much. Sometimes people work until they are near death. They don't want to retire, they want to keep doing what they love.

It's rare for sure. And I wonder if WP is one of those types.

Or it maybe something much simpler, ... like a wife who won't stop drawing X's & O's on his napkins while he's at home trying to eat lunch.

Wade has fallen into a practically perfect situation.

A job he loves.

A HC that is wonderful to him and to work for.

An organization that provides him with top tier talented players.

Paid a 7 figure salary.

Respected as an elite DC throughout the league.

Working in an ideal climate weather wise.

Very close to his daughter and grandchildren.

Still enjoying good health.

Geez, what’s not to like? Lol.
