Don’t know what that means…

But.. interesting. Really expected Staley.

Shula was apparently being considered in Miami for the DC spot as well.

Bobby Wagner did more in 1 year than Shula has for us in several.

Really don't know whether this is a good thing or bad. Interesting though that McVay is hiring from in-house.

In McVay I trust - just wish it wasn't a buddy - but that's not necessarily a bad thing right?

I was not and am not a huge Staley fan either. Think there were a lot of othger factors in his success.

Meh. Not impressed. Liked several guys more, but, honestly, what do I really know. If he's any good, he'll be hired away next year like our coordinators are EVERY f'ing year. Should be compensation for that, not just for diversity.

You know this… how?
Jones didn't take off until a year after being with Wagner. Our LBs typically haven't been shit and a guy that was pass rush specialist on a team with a minimal pass rush isn't great.

If his last name wasn't Shula.. people would hate it.

And frankly, I don't want anyone who's been around Raheem.

I know about as much about how Chris Shula will perform as our DC as I knew about how Sean McVay was going to perform as our HC when we hired him.

So that’s about all I have to say about that.

I’m not trying to be a dick but is a player growing in year two/three really that big of a surprise?

Yeah… I think it’s because his name is Shula that people assume he’s some kind of nepo hire.

Me? I look at the process & candidates. Like I said.. other orgs were interviewing him as DC.. or wanted to.

And your last line makes it clear that you don’t think McVay knows what he’s doing.

I’d disagree.

In the minority here but I think this is a good hire. Continuity in approach and a known quantity within the team: cohesiveness, culture and fit. No way this happens if there isn’t buy-in from AD99

You do recall the talent in the LB room right? Many won’t be on the team next year.

Jones took off because he was good, in his third year, and helped win a SB without Wagner.

Yeah, like Kyle only got hired cuz he was Mike's kid - shitty coach.

That's just like...your opinion man. And basically a bad one.

I'm surprised. But congrats to Chris Shula. What an enormous opportunity for him and family. :clinkingbeer:
