I’d just like to say to PFT, TurfShowTimes, Rams Wire, Fansided and all the other click bait troll blogs out there… fuck you!

I don’t care about your hypotheticals, your trade ideas, your rumors, your unsourced “reports” or your analyses.

I’d like to be able to just ignore you, but I actually like following the offseason. As a result, I will continue to search for Rams news and just filter out your garbage (and those who absurdly cite you as sources).

Just know that you add nothing to the world of sports fandom and, in fact, only serve to pollute the stream of information with verbal sewage.

Seriously…just stop and do something useful with your lives.

Okay…rant over. :sunglasses:

Oh, this is a rant thread? I'll go with my rant: James Bond.

He's not a fucking spy, okay? He's a glorified government-sanctioned hitman. If you're regarded as "the best spy in the world", you are, in fact, the worst spy in the world because spies are not - meant - to - be - known. And he's an amoral chauvinistic pig who has raped women in some iterations. Yeah, what he did to Pussy Galore (classy name, isn't it?) was rape.

That's why I like the Daniel Craig Bond the most. He's not portrayed as a spy, he's not a chauvinistic pig for the most part, and he still retains that suave, smooth, cool-calm-and-collected demeanor.
Which is why I hate that they killed him off. The next Bond's going to suck, I just know it.

TL/DR: I hate the portrayal and fandom of James Bond.

I know the vast majority here don't believe me but I've felt the same for decades. I began to develop my own sources. It started back when I lived in Seattle I became friends with a few members of Don James' staff at the University of Washington. They taught me a lot about what they were coaching. It carried on to when I worked at Torey Pines Hotel. I was frequently at the grill that was by the putting green. I'm not a golfer but several football players are, both collegiate and NFL. Cris Dielman a Pro Bowl OG, Marshall Faulk, Philip Rivers, Doug Flutie and many others were frequent players on the course and several times they would finish up at the grill. I was honored to have the opportunity to talk ball with several of them over the years. They all taught me a lot over the years.

Through my business, I developed connections with NFL scouts and others who worked in the NFL. All I'm saying is that if you don't like what they are saying, then find out on your own. Nowadays it's much easier than when I was younger. Now you have the internet. You take the bits and pieces of info and put together your own beliefs and expectations. Most of the guys you rail about actually know less than you in all probability. Cameron Desilva is a complete hack. But every once in a while a bit of information he has is actually more than he knows. So you can take that nugget and go to other sources and keep adding to it. Unlike these media idiots, you don't have a deadline to meet. That is why so many of their pieces are so badly researched.

There is no reason you can't run with your own thoughts. Go for it.

Oh, fate, I loathed Sean Connery's Bond for the reasons I stated. He was also portrayed as "the best spy in the world", which just made it worse.

And Bond being a woman? I don't know about that either. If they portray her as a glorified sanctioned hitman like they did with Craig's Bond, I'd be fine with that. If they try to portray her as "the best spy in the world", I'd hate that, again, for the reasons I stated. But honestly - and I speak about that as a woman - would she be able to capture Bond's persona? That is something I doubt.

Bond has been a product of his era, unfortunately the human condition evolves at a glacial pace, but blaming 'Hollywood' for feeding into yesteryears misogynistic fantasies that were a sign of the times might better be regarded as a historical record, as currently exacerbating as it may be. Imagine what TV might have looked like prior to the Civil War & Reconstruction with so-called 'heroes' like George Custer & Nathan Bedford Forrest being portrayed by popular actors of the time.

Bond by Ian Fleming was not the misogynistic mess that Sean Connery's Bond was. Fleming's Bond was also a hitman at heart, sanctioned by M16 to kill or otherwise neutralize whatever threats Britain was facing. The fact that some idiot movie directors portrayed him as a spy (like I said, he's a shit spy because spies aren't supposed to be famous) was annoying as shit because that wasn't Fleming's Bond. Fleming based Bond off of spies, sure, but he wrote Bond as if he were a sanctioned hitman, albeit with interesting tools of his trade.

I run with my own thoughts all the time (often randomly, and in groups of 20). But what I don’t, and won’t ever, do is claim to have inside sources.

And, to be frank, no…I don’t believe that you have sources who truly know what is going on inside the organization. To be even more frank, your track record of faulty prognostications belies your assertion in that regard.

i hate all of the james bond hate.

not sure why people can't simply enjoy things and understand the era in which those things lived. 40 years from now daniel craig will be viewed by some as a brute neanderthal.

That's fine, but movie producers & directors have been twisting an authors/writers words into scripts that fit their agenda since the industry was created. Some of the biggest movies of all times have been written into slop because they know what sells to the masses, honesty and the truth always seems to suffer where profit is at stake.

I understand eras we live in and when they live in. That's not the only reason why I hate movie-007s. They are not fucking spies. Might as well say that Austin Powers is a spy - and Austin Powers isn't a spy either (and honestly, he's portrayed much better than Bond is, despite being a serial womanizer.) The movies are unrealistic as well; if you think he's a spy, why not just fucking shoot him in the head, like, three times to make sure he's dead instead of all of the death trap gimmicks that are undone by James Bond gadget gimmicks?

So, basically, if Mike Florio and the doofuses at TurfShowTimes were to co-write the next Bond movie, it would really suck ass.

Which is why I refuse to have my stories done into movies or television shows. Fanfiction's fine because, hey, in my multiversal stories, it may as well be canon, but I'd hate the idea of my stories - which I'm not going to profit off of; all proceeds will go to various charities - being twisted to fit a Hollywood narrative.

I like telling a story that in 2000 years from now some poor fool will dig up a copy the 'Lord of the Rings', and the world will declare it the new bible, ... Samwise & Frodo will become the deities of the age.

Maybe we can help…

Like, perhaps, a story in which 007 has to track down and stop a villain who hijacks threads on message boards. The villain could be called…I don’t know…maybe Dr. Memento?

Nah, it would be J.R.R. Tolkien who would be considered God. He's already one of my biggest influences along with Stephen King and Edgar Allan Poe, and he's a better fantasy writer and world-builder than I could ever hope to be. If my stories gain even a fraction of Tolkien's brilliance, I'd be a happy woman.
