The 1999 season was so unexpected that by the time you exhaled, we effing won the Super Bowl. After 2005, mediocrity and misery returned to our fan base for over a decade.

In 2017, my expectations was tempered. It couldn't be any worse than Jeff Fisher Era with McVay right? It wasn't 1999, but a winning record, NFC West title, and a playoff birth was more than what I hoped for.

The trades, drafts, signings, etc, seems so smooth (except the AD hold-out) that for once I feel the "football gods" favors us.

Witnessing or being part of mediocrity and misery over the years as a fan makes me cautiously optimistic. The losing culture is hard to overcome. On the flip side, a winning culture breeds arrogance. I don't fault a Pats fan for being that way, it's part of their DNA since 2001 when they won it all in our expense no less.

Its been so long but for once i'm excited and all in for 2018. Any one else feel this way?

Definitely excited, but there's no caution to my optimism.

Things happen along the way that might change our expectations, but currently anything less than the NFCCG would be a failure IMO.

I'm optimistic as well, and not cautiously. (^@FrantikRam, NFCCG or bust).

The losing culture reference is understandable, but hasn't existed imo since SK took over (and Spags was fired).

You can say "What about Fisher"?, but I still feel Kroenke knew exactly what he was hiring, and if he had a winning record, so much the better - but it was all about a rebuild and the move, and JF did that.

Losing culture is and has been a thing of the past.

100%.
We can play with and beat anyone.
Should be a fun season.
Last year was a blast after so many terrible seasons.
I am not going to get stressed or pissed.....didn't at all really last year......nice for a change. Just going to enjoy watching good Rams football.

Have my expectations tampered too, we got lucky with little to no injuries last season and saw the impact on performance when Brockers got injured against Atlanta. Hoping our roster stays healthy throughout the season, I know what to expect out of this team, coaching-wise and the only glaring weakness is when McVay gets aggressive with the pass.

Outside of key injuries I feel the Rams are full throttle into the playoffs and hope the Superbowl.

We have alot of major talent locked up and I am sure Peters and Goff will follow in the appropriate time.

We are a really strong team - a year more experience for McVay and Goff and their Offense. Added Cooks who is better than Watkins. ST are the same key players all probowlers. Defense has been massively upgraded. The weakest area last year for me was the DBs not the Run Defense. Wade has another year in the system he has his guys and the players we got are elite level in Shields, Peters, Talib and Suh. What is not to like.

I'm cautiously optimistic because I've not seen a game with all starters yet. The preseason for the Rams has basically been used to evaluate talent and work the depth of backups.

Bottom line is I'm feeling good about the team...I NEED THEM TO CONFIRM THAT.

Can't predict injuries, but I expect nothing less than a super bowl appearance this year.

You can say that again!

What a pleasant surprise!!

Really looking forward to this year but I always worry... I'll be fine after they blow out OAK.

I’ve been telling anyone that will listen that, on paper, this could be one of the best teams of all time. There’s so much proven talent between coaches and players is rediculous. Now on paper doesn’t mean much because the games still need to be played, and bad luck with injuries can make any good team look bad. So who knows what will happen, but injuries aside, I expect big things

I too, have "Lifetime Ram Syndrome". I've been let down way too many times to get too optomystic. But this team is pretty deep with talent at the skill positions and the coaching is more competent than in the past fifteen years, and thats what gives me cause for optimism.
