I am convinced that Wentz is going to be a perennial pro bowl QB. He's got all the right stuff, it's gonna happen.

Again I prefer Goff and know he's going to come in and turn this passing game around. But man, if the Rams are trolling everyone and it's Wentz I'm gonna buy his jersey with just as much excitement. What a great kid.

I don't know, I don't really love this. A guy talking up his own history and accomplishments, and going public in his own words with his personal history, etc. Perhaps he is a winner, and that confidence will serve him well. I worry he'll be a guy that gets held back by it though: finds himself injured, mechanically under-refined in favor of what works in the moment, and trying to do too much because it's all he knows how to do. This sounds harsh, and it's not that I don't like him, or think he's a great quarterback prospect and likely a great guy... I just feel it accentuated to me some of the boom-or-bust potential he has.

If he's the pick, I'll quickly be convinced he was the right pick until I'm proven wrong. Same with Goff. Just saying, I don't love this full-frontal approach to explaining himself.

Ram or Eagle, he will become a household name, and for the right reasons.

You don’t get through winters with an average temperature of 12.8° without being a certain kind of tough — the cracked-skin-dried-blood kind of tough.

That toughness comes in handy in a place like North Dakota. You see, up there, jamming your numb fingers against someone’s ice-cold helmet happens every practice. Getting decked on the cement-like dirt is just how a play ends.

And here’s the thing: I love it.

Because in North Dakota, we don’t care for flash or dazzle. That’s not our game. We don’t do things the fanciest way. We do them the right way.

We've been diversifying, man. I've been raised Rams since birth. Vikings are easiest for most due to proximity, but I honestly know just as many fans of random teams like Cleveland, Jacksonville and KC up here.

The funny thing is, they've seen more of those teams live than the Vikings fans that only have make the 3 hour trek to Minneapolis. The NFL marketing machine is just a killer.

I dunno. I went through various stages. At first, my natural pollyanna/optimist just went all in on Wentz and just wanted to look at the possibilities. But as a I really started looking more at the situation the new QB would be coming to, I dunno.

Many don't share my pessimism, but I dunno that Goff is the wrong decision, per se.

I think Wentz fits the hodge podge mess that they are doing now.

I think Goff fits what they aspire to be and do.

Considering the large gap between what they have cobbled together and their designs... they've gone all in on their aspirations and they've never gotten close in 4 years with respect to their aspirations on offense. So, this gamble essentially is just as much about "we can do what we set out to do" as it is about Goff.

I also appreciate Wentz's relentlessness. I'll never forget those 4 years I lived north of Philly in the Lehigh Valley. 4 straight years, it was the most in 100 years for some aspect of winter...most snow, coldest...most freezing days, biggest snow...ugh. Growing up in SoCal, I had no appreciation for what kind of toughness the cold meant. When I had to walk to work 5 miles in a blizzard...any last doubts were long forgotten. Took me over 2 hours, but I did it. The cold makes for a kind of tough that you just don't find in other places...

Is Goff gonna be the wrong decision? I hope not or the next 5-10 years is gonna stink.

I feel pretty certain that Wentz is gonna be a big success and the cold in Philly won't scare off someone from North Dakota...
