It wouldn't surprise me to learn that other GM's were now semi reluctant to make a trade with Snead now. Lol.
Let's see...
The RG3 trade is the stuff of legends. So many starters for the Rams as a result of that blockbuster. And for a QB that's proven iffy for Washington, at best.
It's early regarding the Bradford/Foles trade. Could still be a good one for the Eagles, but it's looking REAL good for the Rams. Foles is completing throws that I doubt Bradford would even attempt. There's a new energy and confidence on our O now. Plus that Eagle 2nd we'll get next year looks like it might be in the 12-16 range of that round. Very possibly another quality starter. This is looking like a HR trade from Ram pov.
The trade down in '13 with Atlanta got us Ogletree and Bailey. Gotta love that one. Ogletree is on the verge of being a Pro Bowler and Bailey is a clutch chain moving WR with flypaper hands AND a demon on ST.
The trade with Tampa giving us Barron for a future 4th and 6th is playing out nicely, huh? I think Barron will be a keeper for this GW defense.
The trade up to take Joyner is still up in the air. But I wouldn't call it a big win for Snead at this point. Maybe "pretty good", but not brilliant.
That trade down with the Bears was clearly Snead's biggest bungle. To lose Wagner for Pead/Watkins still stings.
But overall, I have to say Snead has come out on top with his trade results. Ask yourself, where would we be without all these players acquired in these various trades?
His draft pick results compare very favorably with league averages.
His FA selections have been a mixed bag. Some hits, some misses. Pretty much like all other GM's. The good news is that now our roster is such that the need for signing future costly (and risky) outside FA's is greatly reduced. Snead was forced to take chances early on to try to jumpstart our pitiful roster. I think he deserves a little slack for early FA signings.
His record on UDFA signings has been superb. There are contributing gems throughout our roster from this formerly neglected area. McLeod and Hekker being at the top of the UDFA list.
But the main thrust of this post is Snead's trading prowess. Very, very impressive, IMO.
Other opinions may vary...
