I have no idea who has the record or how many he had but I would think if Aaron Donald can stay healthy he could one day (Season) break the DT Sack Record! He is one Awesome Player!!!

The answer is a resounding YES!!

EDIT: I think this kid has the freak potential to break the official sack record of the season. He's that good.

How many other rookie DTs have ever been so dominant through their first 12 starts?

Robert Quinn is a special talent, a freak of nature and one of the best pass rushers I've ever seen on any team. The guy is amazing.

And he isn't the best player on our DLine.
That's just crazy.

18 would be hard to do, but he's talented and has a lot of talent around him. I suppose he could, but it would take a lot.

If he keeps up his current pace he will match by week 10!
;)

Seriously though, I can't see it happening without having a high scoring offense to keep opposing QBs behind the 8ball.

Then again... maybe Donald is even better than we think....

so bizarre i was just having this same conversation tonight with a coworker. all the lists we googles were just Dlinemen in general. also i don't like the list cus i don't think its totally fair comparing 4-3 and 3-4 schemes. but anyway if its 18 sacks then Donald only needs to average 1 a game now the rest of the season just to tie it. he got 9 sacks out of 11 starts as a rookie so think what he'll do now. And the better Brockers gets the easier it is for Donald. Also if the team starts getting ahead in games more then the opposing offense is forced to throw more and hold that ball longer. meaning better odds for lots more sacks. let all of that sink in to a possibility of 18 sacks.

Honestly, I'll go ahead and say he not only breaks it, he shatters it and sets an impossible standard for other DTs to make. The guy's a beast, it's like having a third DE out there, he's unstoppable, even moreso than Quinn imo.

Seriously. In what bizarro world does Quinn get eclipsed by a 12 start DT?

This one my friends, this one. Curse us all if we forget what Quinn is bringing to that line. Donald doesn't exist without Quinn and the rest.

Does he top 18? Hell YEAH he tops 18!

Do the Rams take the sack record?! It's almost probable, I'll make the sportsbook next week.

One where starts doesn't equate to talent. Quinn is a great player, but Donald is a different beast entirely.

Also that second line is just false, Donald definitely exists without those guys, Donald is the one going out there and resoundingly beating his men, not Brockers, not Long nor Quinn. I don't doubt their influence doesn't help, but it only helps so much before Donald's talent kicks in, you can totally be surrounded by great talent and still suck.. Just ask Tony Banks.

Donald is the master of his own destiny and him swiftly and utterly beating every man who opposes him is all his doing.

well one of his goals this season was to have a multisack game. No reason he couldn't set the sack record as his next goal.

This is a crazy special DL.

Lest we forget, of the 13 QB pressures against Seattle, who had 6 of them? Chris Long. Yep, Long had nearly half of the pressures. And those mean something because when you have the rest of our DL, that pressure means that QB has to MOVE off of his spot in a hurry.

Not only are these guys special, but enough have been around long enough and lost enough to SAY ENOUGH to the losing and making dumb mistakes and not living up to their potential.

I swear, I've been so excited since we won, that I've been squirming in my seat like a kid at the dentist.

It's true, Donald would be a special player on any defense.
That said, I think you are short-changing the impact his linemates have on his success.

Let's not forget how incredibly dominant Quinn was in 2013.
I remember. He was phenomenal.
If Quinn had played at that same level all of last season, I think the conversation about who is the most talented would be a lot different than it has been lately.
Brockers does make Donald better because he does his dirty job so well that Coach Williams is able to cut 99 loose and let him freelance.
The same can be said about Chris Long too.

AD99 is a star, even on a bad line, but his star wouldn't shine so bright without the badass guys around him now.

I know you know all this, and I get where you're coming from.
I just tend to think that the rest of our line deserves it's fair share of the love.

I also think we need to cool our jets talking about records... After 1 game. o_O

WOW! Who's better Donald or Quinn!?!
That's a debate I don't even want to get into!!
Kinda like asking me " Who do I love more, My GrandDaughter or the Rams!" I refuse to choose!:D
* Best DE in the NFL - Robert Quinn
* Best DT in the NFL - Aaron Donald
