Camp Report 8/3/13
Players not participating: Lance Kendricks; Matt Daniels; Jemelle Cudjo; Sammy Brown; Andrew Helmick; Matt Giordano; Nick Johnson; Al Lapuano

Kendall Langford was back on practice field today.

Injuries are starting to mount. None appear to be serious, but the list of “inactives” is growing daily

Offensive Line:
1st Unit: Long S. Smith Wells Dahl Saffold
2nd Unit: Barksdale C. Williams Barnes Washington Nsekhe
LG rotation holds true for another day
Players rotating on a daily basis.

Today: 2nd unit QB was Austin Davis; Kellen Clemens taking 3rd unit reps

Theme of the day: Bradford to Cook

• Offense worked on RedZone and 2 mintue offense again today.

Kickoff Return took plenty of reps,, Isaiah Pead, Tavon Austin and Chris Givens all got their turn. Lots of “ooohs and Ahhhs” from the crowd as they all broke free for long returns,, Pead actually looked the best of the 3

Jared Cook really showed why he is here.. Too many targets to count, and they connected on more than their share of big

Brain Quick was very active. More positives than negatives. (although he had a drop on a very catchable pass) and caught the wrath of Coach Sherman

RB vs LB Pass Blocking drill:

Isaiah Pead actually stood out today. He seemed to be blocking with an attitude. Best among ALL of the RBs.

Terrance Ganaway also did well.

Zac Stacy struggled to keep his balance and wasn’t very good.

Daryl Richardson still gets over powered, although he was much more aggressive today than on other days

RedZone included GOAL LINE plays from the 1 yard line. “23” personnel grouping included 2 backs, (Harkey and Richardson) with 3 TEs (Cook and BARKSDALE inline, with McNeill as the “move TE”) Handoff to Richardson, ran behind Wells and Dahl--- TOUCHDOWN

Second play, same personnel, same formation, play action and play broke down because the Defense didn’t bit on the play fake, Bradford throws it away.

11 on 11

Tavon Austin targeted early in drills, mostly on short crossing routes

Jared Cook was virtually unstoppable today. Got behind Ogletree on more than one occasion. Deep seam routes, and intermediate crossing routes

Austin Pettis had a nice catch on a deep crossing route to the
sideline from Bradford. Quick cleared out the zone, and Pettis got behind the LBs (20 yr gain)

• During the 2 Minute drill, Bradford hits Austin near the sideline about 20 yards downfield, he stops on a dime, McDonald runs past him and Austin is about to head downfield for a huge gain. Out of nowhere, Alec Ogletree, who lined up on the OPPOSITE side of the field, chases down Austin before he can turn it up

Zac Stacy had the biggest run from scrimmage. Break out run and was in the secondary before there was anyone within 5 yards of him.

There will more of the report tomorrow! But anyone who was there, feel free to add any observations!!!!

That sounds like the offense is gonna be a strong point this year. :nana:
Stacy better get better at pass blocking or he's not going to get many snaps.

I guess Isaiah is really serious about getting significant playing time. He had discussed working on hi pass blocking earlier. It's nice to see he's actually seems to be getting the job done---albeit against friendly fire.
