By Eric Edholm/Shutdown Corner

According to a WNAA report, the shooting was "accidental." When news first broke, there were fears of another Darrent Williams story involving a Broncos cornerback. But this report almost makes it sound like another Plaxico Burress type of situation. Burress accidentally shot himself in a New York nightclub and later was suspended by the team for four games for the incident.

Talib grew up in the area and spends time in the offseason in Dallas. Local police once claimed to have arrested Talib, but it actually was his brother they had apprehended. Talib and his brother last year got in trouble at a different nightclub, LUXX Club, when shots were fired during an altercation they reportedly were involved in. They were investigated for aggravated assault, but charges were never filed.

Talib also was charged with aggravated assault in nearby Garland, Texas after allegedly firing a gun at his sister's boyfriend in March 2011, but charges were dropped.

Talib, 30, and the Broncos won the Super Bowl in February but it has been a tough offseason for the champs, who lost their top two quarterbacks to retirement and free agency and watched other talented players leave for greener pastures elsewhere after beating the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. Those teams will kick off the season in a Week 1 rematch.

The Broncos are set to report to their three-day mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. Talib's status for the minicamp or beyond is not known.

Aqib Talib is a great talent that creates his own problems with mistakes both on and off the field.

Believe it or not I actually did play once in a bar that had chicken wire in front of the stage!
What a dive! LOL

The country music clubs were the absolute worst. Not a fan of that genre but needed the money. This was in the early 80's. Had to play the soundtrack to Urban Cowboy over and over again. :dizzy: Jealous boyfriends and husbands with cowboy hats and guns. I still shudder when thinking of those times. The Blues Brothers video posted above hits the nail on the head.

Talib remains hospitalized; White House trip unlikely for him
Posted by Mike Florio on June 5, 2016

Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib remains hospitalized in Dallas, contrary to multiple reports that he has been released.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, multiple Broncos officials (including coach Gary Kubiak) have spoken with Talib, who has told the team he is fine. At this point, Talib remains hospitalized primarily for the purposes of observations.

The Broncos currently anticipate that he won’t be cleared by doctors to make the trip with the rest of the team to Washington on Monday to visit the White House. Obviously, that’s a minor concern for a guy who could have ended up in much worse shape than he currently is.

The details of the shooting remain unclear. According to Liz Farmer of the Dallas Morning News, a “customer pulled a gun and shot one person” inside the V Live club in Dallas, and a second person “was wounded outside the club as the fight continued.”

Multiple theories are making the rounds among players and other league insiders. The Broncos are still attempting to determine exactly how Talib was injured, and who specifically pulled the trigger.

Yep, early 80s for sure! We were a wedding band and had to pretty much be able to play anything! Did it for fifteen years and finally burned out.
Now I only pick up my bass to play along with the radio once in a while.

I guess I look at the world differently. If you feel you need gun at a nightclub, maybe you shouldn't go there.

Report: Aqib Talib told cops he was too drunk to know who shot him

If police were unclear about who fired the shot that ended up going through Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib’s leg, then they gained no clarity from talking to him.

According to Rebecca Lopez of WFAA, Talib told police he was at a park (not a strip club) and that he couldn’t recall much about the incident.

“Everything was a blur and I was too intoxicated to remember what happened,” Talib reportedly told the Dallas Police Department.

Well, that’s one way around the speculation that he might know the culprit.

But it does nothing to make this story any less bizarre, on a day when the rest of the Broncos are at the White House being congratulated for winning the Super Bowl.

WFAA-TV in Dallas, citing the Dallas Police report, said the bullet entered through the rear of Talib’s right thigh and exited out his right calf. Talib spent two nights in a Dallas hospital because of the gunshot wounds but was released Monday afternoon.

Talib has told people close to him he accidently shot himself, but police are still investigating the matter. WFAA reported Talib told police he was hanging out at a park with friends when he was shot at about 3:40 a.m. Sunday.
