I’ve been playing around with some Mock draft simulators and more often than not Bowers is the top name available when our current projected pick comes up. I’d love to see him in horns but could we afford to pull the trigger on a TE that early with all our other needs? It’s intriguing to say the least since this dude is a beast. What say ye?

If McVay utilized his TE position more I would say yes, but there are bigger fish to fry in the first round. If the Rams can't get their guy assuming they'll be picking top ten or fifteen, I'd slide down the draft and get another pick. Lots of good players to be had in this draft. First need is Oline & Dline.

Three letters: BPA.

This roster lacks real difference makers, certainly among the youngsters, so grab the best player we can.

If Bowers is McSnead’s top rated player when we pick, take him.

He would help us. Will be an excellent or better player at this level I am sure. He is a bigger Kupp, which is to say even though he's a real TE he is that good in the pass game (will roast LBs and manhandle safeties). But I'd really like to see us add speed if we go with a skill position. Speed is lacking on both sides of the ball, and at edge.

.

Remember when the Lions thought it was a good idea to draft Eric Ebron at #10 in 2014?

The next 3 picks - lewan, obj, AD.

Brock Bowers is the best tight end to come out...basically ever. You damn well better take him if he's at thirteen; it's not like the left tackle position's gonna be solved there with Alt and Fashanu being top ten picks (and I'm not a fan of Latham).

He's a generational prospect. If he's available you take him.

The Rams have never picked/prioritized a premium TE. Higbeast is the best we've had, and he's just "good" but not great.

@Memento and I think it's high Time to pick the BTA available (Best Tackle Available). I think even @Merlin could be swayed away from his 1st round draft crush (Place Kicker)

Best tackle available? When you could get someone like Cooper Beebe or Kingsley Suamataia or many, many other options in the second round?

I'm taking Bowers because he's an athletic freak who lives and breathes the game of football. This is not an Ebron or a Hockenson; we're talking Gronk/Kelce mix, and I'm not even sure he makes it to our pick. But if he's there, we had better pull the trigger.

Bowers is a head case. He’s very immature. Would McVay want him?

Gronk was a headcase. Kelce was an even bigger headcase. Hell, Higbee had character issues coming out.

I think McVay would see him as a football player, a weapon unlike anything the league has ever seen.

As much as they need offensive line help and edge rusher, a guy like Brock Bowers would be very tempting. You don't get many playmaking tight ends in the draft. But could McVay maximize his skill set? I know he's good with receivers. Don't know what he can do with a tight end with that kind of skill.

Generational TE? That’s what they said about Kyle Pitts, who went 4th overall. Yikes
And before anyone says it’s because he was drafted by Atlanta - Arthur Smith is considered a great offensive mind who green-lighted Pitts’ selection and has got next to nothing out of him in three years.

Atlanta is only scoring .6 ppg less than us. People always down talk them but they're no worse than us. I'd love to have Smith on board the Rams.

In the latest Coach McVay shoe he mentioned Pitts. Is that some foreshadowing?

Could see us trading for someone like Pitts, and trying to get his full potential out of him. I can’t see us drafting a TE in the first.

Unless we plug a bunch of holes in free agency

How would you line them up if we take him. Let's say ideally, with everyone healthy. And then contrast that with a real outside hash speed threat at wideout.

I think it is arguable that our offense will be far better if we took a guy like Nabers. Because we have big bodied threats who excel over the middle in Kupp and now Nacua. Both are mini-TEs in their skillset and style of play. What we lack is being able to blow corners up outside the hash.

We have a QB who can use a top wideout. People are on his nuts and he deserves a lot of the criticism but he's shown when the quality is out there that he can feed them with OBJ's brief performance in this offense. So even though I do very much like Bowers I don't think he moves that speed bar in the pass game. We badly lack speed. It's a problem for us IMO.

Can you save me the trouble of listening to D'Marco Farr, and tell me what McVay said?

@Elmgrovegnome ... I am serious.
"Give me a smooch!"
