Breaking down Tim Barnes' contract

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The St. Louis Rams recently re-signed center Tim Barnes to a one-year contract.
Barnes returned to the Rams after a brief dalliance with the Kansas City Chiefs when the Rams decided not to extend him a restricted free-agent tender offer. But upon his return, Barnes immediately becomes the most experienced center on the roster and it's realistic that he could at least get a chance to compete for the starting job with Barrett Jones and Demetrius Rhaney.
If indeed Barnes wins the job, he would probably become the most cost-effective starter on the Rams' line. His one-year deal is for $710,017 (yes, a palindrome, the specialty of the Rams' contract negotiators) but could move to the $1 million range with about $290,000 in playing time incentives.
Here's a quick rundown of Barnes' deal for those keeping score at home with numbers courtesy of ESPN Stats & Information:
2015
Base salary: $660,000
Roster bonus: $50,017 (paid on April 3)
Cap number: $710,017
Cash number: $710,017
