Breaking down Tim Barnes and Brian Quick contracts

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- The Los Angeles Rams re-signed center Tim Barnes and wide receiver Brian Quick last week, coming up with short-term deals to give them another season or two with the team.
In Barnes' case, it was a deal he worked for after winning the starting job in training camp last year and holding it down throughout the season. Quick, on the other hand, battled back from a devastating shoulder injury but didn't play or produce much after returning.
That's why Barnes received a two-year deal while Quick is back on the very definition of a one-year "prove it" deal.

2016
Base salary: $1.25 million (fully guaranteed)
Roster bonus: $1.25 million (fully guaranteed)
Workout bonus: $50,000
Cap charge: $2.55 million
Cash: $2.55 million
Notes: Can earn up to $1.75 million in not likely to be earned incentives for playing time, team performance and Pro Bowl appearances
2017
Base salary: $2.25 million
Roster bonus: $750,000 (guaranteed for injury only on third day of league year, becomes fully guaranteed on June 17)
Workout bonus: $50,000
Cap charge: $3.05 million
Cash: $3.05 million
Notes: Can earn up to $1.75 million in not likely to be earned incentives for playing time, team performance and Pro Bowl appearances
Brian Quick
2016
Base salary: $1.25 million (fully guaranteed)
Roster bonus: Up to $500,000 with $250,000 guaranteed and paid last weekend and the other $250,000 in increments of $15,625 for every game on the 46-man active roster.
Cap charge: $1,703,125
Cash: $1.75 million
Notes: Can earn up to $2 million in not likely to be earned incentives for production
