I was with Jeff Fisher last night, and the Rams are really excited about OL Jamon Brown; they think the third-rounder has Pro Bowl potential

If Jamon Brown is playing at pro bowl level with elite run blockers in Robinson, Saffold, and run blocking being Havensteins strength then Gurley and Mason will both be rushing for 1000 yards this season.

I worry how he handles the inside delay blitzing stunts they're going to throw at the Rams right side OL. The Rams need to seriously think about employing a 2rb set to pick up inside blitzers.

I think that's a worry that encompasses the entire oline. No one really picked those up well last year.

Wow. Gill Brandt is usually right. Rams are #RamsTrendingUp
Well Brandt didn't post *he* thinks J.Brown is a Pro Bowler, he's just reporting the Rams are high on him. Of course maybe we can read a little into it -- why bother posting it if there's nothing behind it? That could slice both ways though -- maybe Brandt thinks it's a great possibility so posting, or so ridiculous that he's posting...

Meh instead of overthinking the likely answer is he's neutrally posting some coachspeak he got from Fisher that they are high on Brown. Which is great in itself. I've been worried how they drafted OL (passing on Cann and "reaching" etc.). If they hit HRs on both Havenstein and Brown I can finally relax. It would be a complete franchise-changing draft and the type of thing that redefines front office reputations.

Yeah, nothing to get overly excited about, what else is Fisher supposed to say? We made a mistake? I'll wait until pre season and the regular season before gushing about anyone new.

Nothing to see here. Also, Gil Brandt is definitely not usually right. Sometimes I question his senility to be honest. Not that he stated anything in this case anyway....

Jamon Brown - T - Rams
According to NFL.com's Gil Brandt, the Rams see third-round OG Jamon Brown as having "Pro Bowl potential."

Brown played tackle at Louisville, but the Rams are using him at guard, where they're "really excited" about Brown's upside. The 72nd pick in May's draft, Brown is a terrific athlete at 6-foot-4, 323 and has 34 3/8-inch arms. He has a legit chance to open the season as St. Louis' starting right guard.

Rams RUMORS: Fisher Believes Jamon Brown Has Pro Bowl Potential

Rams head coach Jeff Fisher reportedly believes the team got a steal, nabbing Brown in the third-round.

By Cal Setar

http://www.hngn.com/articles/108908...lieves-jamon-brown-has-pro-bowl-potential.htm

The St. Louis Rams clearly made it a point this offseason to target upgrades along the offensive line. Considering former franchise signal-caller Sam Bradford was lost to an ACL injury on an awkward hit in the 2014 preseason and Bradford's understudy's - Austin Davis, Shaun Hill - both spent ample amounts of their time on the field last season tossing short passes and avoiding pass-rushers, it's entirely understandable then why Rams head coach Jeff Fisher and GM Les Snead committed four draft picks in the 2015 NFL Draft and a 2016 fifth-round pick in the supplemental draft to add an influx of talent to their bevy of blockers up front.

While Rob Havenstein, an offensive tackle out of Wisconsin, was the team's first selection along the offensive line in the draft, it seems their third-round pick, Jamon Brown, was given fairly high praise by Fisher recently.

"I was with Jeff Fisher last night, and the Rams are really excited about OL Jamon Brown; they think the third-rounder has Pro Bowl potential," NFL Network senior analyst Gil Brandt tweeted Monday.

Brown, 6-foot-4, 323-pounds, was a three-year starter at Louisville. He began his starting career for the Cardinals at right tackle, but spent the final two seasons of his collegiate tenure at left tackle, taking home All-ACC honors both years.

While Brown starred at tackle in college, Fisher has said that he expects him to slot in at guard in the pros - Rob Rang of CBS Sports agreed with that notion earlier this offseason.

"Brown is at his best simply mauling defenders at the point of attack, utilizing his long arms (34 3/8") and leg drive to generate movement - making him a better fit at guard in the NFL in a run-heavy, power-based scheme rather than the relatively finesse approach most teams expect from tackles in today's pass-happy attacks," Rang writes.

Now it seems that not only is Fisher expecting Brown to be a guard, he's expecting him to be a Pro Bowl caliber guard. While every NFL coach at each of the league's 32 franchises would likely say that they hope and expect every player they select winds up a Pro Bowler, it's still interesting to hear a head coach single out a specific draft pick as a future star when speaking with a former NFL personnel executive.

Who says we are going to pass? We are just going to run it down their throats!

The Rams will need to pass enough to open up running lanes. Of course, if they're blitzing that will open things up for quick passes to Cook, who will then proceed to run over and at least stun the cornerback, opening things up for Quick, Britt, and Austin against second string CBs.

Basically, I foresee DCs curled up on the ground and crying after they play the Rams.

I'll take any good news I can get on this team. Right now it's a good sign, which is better than a bad sign right?

Unless Fisher actually believes it, there's no way he would say someone like Brown has Pro Bowl potential. Why would he? He can praise him without going to such extreme lengths.

Which makes me think that he actually believes it. Because he could have just said nothing. There has to be something behind it.

I have to agree, DYVKX.

It would be very curious for Fisher to go way out of his way to praise Brown like that just to indulge in some coachspeak with Brandt.

Not only very curious, but potentially embarrassing since he knew Brandt would pass his comments along.

Another thing. Doesn't Fisher have a tendency to be a bit subdued when referring to how his players are developing? I mean, this seems out of character for Fisher, if you ask me.

Therefore, it just might be a fact that Fisher is very, very pleased with what he's seen from Brown so far. Remember, it appears that the Rams are not exactly beating the bushes to sign a vet FA at OG. So there is that.

They sure weren't bashful about praising Donald last year, were they? And he worked out pretty good.

We'll see for ourselves soon enough. Camp for rookies starts in just 2 weeks.
