Jim was on The Rams sideline a few times & was a class guy.Bones saving a from drowning 6 years back ?

Football is a family thing & just as much as with Wade, maybe that was the best thing Mcvay could do.Wes Phillips has a bright future & I’m sure Wade is still a huge Rams Fan right now ?

Don Shula passing last season was one of the greatest.

The Rams still have Zak Kromer,so The Rams & Mcvay keep an Excellent NFL coaching roots still going.

Just shows you LIFE is short & make sure you remember your loved ones when you can.I’m sure John(bones)Fassel will miss his dad.

John Bonomego is a guy The Rams kept on the staff & has a fight with cancer. Not sure much about it ?

Joe De Camillias is The Rams new special teams coach.Johnny Hekker has a connection to all.

I’m sure The Rams family is saddened of the news, & The NFL is a small community in itself.

BTW- it was awesome when Jim Fassel beat the Cheaters that will always live on !! Thanks Jim for that R.I.P.

I can speak from experience that Jim Fassel was a class act, when the Giants trained up here in Albany, NY., I had the opportunity to converse with him several times and our company took the Giant coaches out to dinner too and I came away even more impressed.

Fassel a true professional is every shape, way & form and my condolences & prayers are with his family & loved ones today.

May he RIP.

Always liked the guy. In my teen years, he was coaching the Giants and they were winning so much. He became a face of that time of football for me.

It's hard to watch important figures in your favorite memories pass. Damn. Getting older sucks.

I concur with @den-the-coach
Class act all the way.
I met him at an outdoor street fair around 2010 in Summit NJ. I was working a booth, place was jammed. I looked up and there he was, asking some questions about rates etc. He was with (I'm assuming) his grandkids and they were clearly agitated. So while I was talking my spiel, it came to me who he was. I paused for a second, and kind of gave a look like, "Are you??" and he just nodded, with an indication of "please dont say anything". So the kids grabbed the chakis we were giving away and off they went. He glanced back at me with a subtle, "thanks bro" kind of look. About an hour or so later, the even was slowing down, vendors were starting to break down, and who comes over to my He was now solo and the look on his face was priceless. He was like, "hey man I really had my hands full there, appreciate you keeping it on the down low". He shook my hand, introduced himself, (like, no shit Jimbo) and then introduced himself to 2 others in the booth with me. He had on some sort of golf visor, maybe Taylormade or Callaway, and he took it off prior to shaking my hand. At that point, several attendees realized who he was now. He hung around for a couple minutes, like one of the guys. Was really cool, just a couple guys talking sports. Lots of Giants fans said hi. Anyway, he says to me that he was again grateful, and then apologizes for not having anything NY Giants on him that he could sign. I of course tell him Im a Rams fan, and say I dont want that crap in my house anyways. We both laughed (he was fired from NY a couple years earlier), and he says, "I could go back to my car, might have something Ravens logo", to which I replied, "thats ok, I'd have thanked you for it, and then thrown it in the trash after you left anyway". To which he let out a big belly laugh. He then wrote me a note on the back of one of the flyers we were handing out.
Then he ended things with putting a laugh on me, said "I'd love to follow up on financing but I cant buy anything now 'cause I dont know who will keep me" with a little shoulder shrug. (Hadnt been retained by Baltimore)
Really cool moment.
Only thing that bummed me out was that Bones wouldnt become ST coach for another couple years. I imagine things could have gone different then.
RIP Jim, you'll always be the guy who fired Asshole Face

He was a good dude. He was on local radio a lot here in Vegas, as he coached the Vegas Locos (UFL League).
Actually pretty good football, and he went to the Championship game all three years, winning twice.
Anyway, always very funny, knowledgeable and interesting on the radio, where he was still on a lot after the UFL folded.

RIP buddy. Way too young to die.

I always had a lot of respect for Jim Fassel. I was shocked to see this news, he seems too young in my mind, and 71 is sort of too early these days. Sad to hear how sudden it happened for his family.

Good way to put it @snackdaddy… Jim leaves behind a lot to be proud of.

Rest in peace, Jim.

Sad news. Very sorry to hear. I heard him interviewed before our SB -- was very proud of his son.

RIP.

Nice ROD poster stories about Fassel being a real down-to-earth guy. Very surprised he passed at a relatively young age. RIP Jim with condolences to Bones and the rest of his family.

From everything I've heard, he was a class act all the way, and his son clearly takes after him.

Rest in peace, Jim. My condolences to Bones and the Fassel family.
