Eric Dickerson
Marshall Faulk (Greatest show on EARTH)
Stephen Jackson
Todd Gurley (Close 3rd and 2nd to those guys) If not for injury he would of destroyed them both.
Dick Bass technically declared as a full back averaging 4.4 YPC and an underrated 9 YPC as a fullback compiling 34 TDs
I know Bettis and McCutheon are on this list as well but Bass makes his case as rarely getting the ball as much as the rest.

We got a few threads on this, but I'm down.
I'd say your list is legit. Some might argue for MF being #1, ED had all the raw talent but MF was the field general, a 2nd QB, great blocker. If we could put either of them on the team right now... it'd be hard to say ED over MF.
SJax #3 all day.
TGII... oh what might have been. If his GA HC doesn't overuse him in the last minutes of the last game of his last season... and maybe McV does the same--I think TGII hurt is knee towards the end of a game we were winning handily? But that water has long since passed under the bridge.
So I'm guessing you've been a fan a long time? I've never seen Bass run.
And if Bettis had stayed, he might be #3 on this list.

Marshall was the most complete back I think I’ve ever seen, ED was the best rusher in our history, S-Jax played in the wrong time (with McVay, he might’ve been a first ballot HOF running back instead of the most underrated running back of all time). Gurley was unselfish on the field, and his peak was insane. If we re-sign K-Will and he produces, he might end up being fifth, but right now, I have to say it’s McCutcheon.

McCutcheon was such a boring runner. He would give you at least 5 yards on almost every carry but almost never more than 10 yards.

If Wendell Tyler didn't carry the football like a loaf of bread, he could have been one of the best running backs on the Rams. Plus he was traded away in well not his prime but still a high level runner..

But when we got ED - that was the end of Tyler on the Rams.

Lawrence McCutcheon was in no way better than SJ.
Steven Jackson, if he had McVay and the right O line maybe, just maybe could have had a better career than both ED and Faulk.
It would have been almost unfair. Think about it. The offense has to worry about the Rams passing game first. Then try and deal with that 240lb beast.
SJ had the longevity to have a super productive career with the right circumstances.
But he was basically thrown to the wolves.

Consistent as hell though.

I love to see Steven Jackson in these lists.
If was on a team that cared about winning, no telling where he would have been on NFL RB lists.

As Steven Jackson's biggest fan on this site? He'd be right at Marshall and ED. I've never seen such a big, physical, punishing bellcow of a runner with such breakaway speed, soft hands and slick routes in the passing game, as fantastic a pass blocker as I've seen, and with ball security (even though he'd always keep the football in his right arm, no matter what, he almost never fumbled).

If McVay had S-Jax in his prime, we'd have won that Super Bowl against the Cheatriots, would've won the Lions playoff game last year, could've possibly won more Super Bowls in his career, along with Stafford.

'Crazy Legs' Elroy Hirsch should be on this list

Not technically a running back. He was a flanker (now defunct position), which was similar to a running back and wide receiver, and he's regarded as a receiver by most lists. I'd still put Crazy Legs on a top five all-time Rams receiver list, along with Holt, Bruce, Kupp, and Fears with Ellard barely missing out, and Nacua - if he continues doing well and doesn't get hurt - ascending as well.

Steven Jackson is the best pure runner of the football in Rams history. In 2006 when he had his only NFL caliber Oline he had 2400 total yards. I would bet anything he could have averaged that for a long time if given the opportunity. He would have literally dragged an entire stadium on his back to win a Super Bowl. NOBODY had the passion for the game like he did. Anyway,

1. Jackson
2. Dickerson
3. Faulk
4. Gurley
5. McCutcheon

I would have liked to see a combo of Bettis and Jackson, perfect for how the Rams are running the ball now. Really loved watching Charles White run the ball in the Robinson system. Most frustrating was Wendell "fi, fy,fo,fumble" Tyler.
