For some crazy unexplained reason, I believe Ben Skowronek is going to have a couple of big time catches on Sunday.

Maybe I'm just being wishful because Jefferson is banged up and Kupp is likely going to get bracketed and double teamed the entire game.

OBJ, RB's out in the flats and Higbee are the more probable options to have a few big time receptions on Sunday.

Skowronek might simply be what he's been the last two playoff games on offense and my gut feeling could be way off.

Regardless, Skowronek is a special teams beast and I appreciate this dude!

Great Special teams player that does have the ability to catch the football and stretch the defense. He seems to be in there more because he blocks better then Jefferson and Jefferson is nursing an injury, but Jefferson is faster and I like him on the field for passing downs.

Again the knock on Skowronek is durability, he struggled with that in college and has been on the injury report multiple times and has missed a game or two, but with Jefferson ailing, Skowronek will get more playing time and his blocking should aid in the rushing attack, which is not easy against that San Francisco defense.

Ben Skow has been a stud on ST. I always see his jersey on screen on PRs and KOs.

That said, nah. Trust in your studs. Ben on O should be the 7th option. Trust Coop, OBJ, Tyler Higbee, Van, Cam, and Sony before him. Not that he should be ignored (actually him on screens could be fun). If he is used in the passing game, just don't do bombs to him.

I see Akers as a bigger weapon in the pass game if Jefferson is limited. Maybe some 2 RB sets with Akers in motion snd Michel in backfield for play action. Gotta get Akers to the second level of the defense to do some serious damage.

In fact I've been afraid to get his number changed on the avi because I dont want to jinx him!

One interesting thing on The Athletic Football show they mentioned is that the 9ers actually invite you to throw to the flat. That's the spot they'll willingly give up.

Will the Rams be patient enough to go after that? As good as Wagner and Greenlaw are.. I'd love to see Akers with the ball and just a little bit of space against them.

i've been looking for Skow to get a few big catches but it seems OBJ coming on has pushed him down on opportunities. He can contribute on STs though.

Would expect Blocking Receiver Ben Skowronek to have his snap count dramatically increase this Sunday along with TE Kendall Blanton. Both these young receivers will have a ton of weight placed on them in this very big game. A UDFA TE & a late 7th round draft pick.

It's going to be a tough rough go, so Ben has the type of skills to be the replacement for the injured Jefferson to face this outstanding 9er defense who always beat up the Rams players.

We certainly know that KR/PR/WR Brandon Powell will be active and available. I wonder if McVay will activate WR Landen Akers? Neither of the two has caught a pass this 2021 season for the Rams.

Hopefully Jefferson is a go and I do believe that Skowronek will log more snaps in the running game, if Jefferson cannot go, they might use Powell with the Jet sweeps and maybe some of the passing game because Stafford did throw to Powell in Detroit.

Landon Akers has some upside and good speed, tough to go his way in a big game, but I like Landon Akers and he seems to have decent hands too.

WR Powell seemed to have been extra quick & fast in these playoffs thus far & he is not a rookie he is in his 4th season.

Go back and watch the first drive vs the Niners. Skow was used to Chip and slow down Bosa on the huge Kupp gain. Then he was used as a lead blocker on an outside run. He’s really becoming valuable doing lots of dirty work similar to how Woods was.

He might not show up in the stat book but he’s becoming important to our success.

He might also have a big role in the pass game as the forgotten man.

Skow will get more snaps for sure if Jefferson can't go. Have to think he'll rise to the occasion too. This guy plays hard and he tends to produce when they call on him.

Also think Odell might be in for a big game with Jefferson being questionable. All the wideouts are dependent on our OL getting good pass pro of course, but if that happens the way he's been vibing with Stafford might translate into some big production.

Benny Skow gives a good alternative WR for blocking on running plays. Whiners better not sleep on him in the passing game. Been a fan since drafted. Gets better every week on Teams. Solid draft pick.

I hope Jefferson isn't limited. He's an underrated weapon for us. Has dropped a few this year, but he's a terrific route runner and possesses the speed to stretch the defense vertically.

Heck Blanton had a couple of great catches vs Bucs last week. The TD and the comeback sideline catch. So why not Benny in this game?! I'm looking for all contributors to come up with something big. Everyone needs to step up.

Am I watching the same player as everyone else? He needs to play better.
I think the excitement over Skow is proportional... most everyone I see is excited about the development and contributions of a guy who is a 7th rounder. A rookie finding diverse ways to contribute to wins.
