Dating back to last year when Barron is on the field he flashes... you see him making plays. But since he has switched over to LB, dare I say he is.... better...?? Than Olgetree? No knock on tree but Barron seems to not miss tackles and has a lot of splash plays per game, even though it's only been 2 games can a guy his size really play lb? Olgetree is good but is Barron better. Seriously or am I over analyzing this?

I would say they are just about equal. All players have good and bad days. Tree seems to make some bone headed mistakes, but he has half the experience Barron has.

I'd also like to see Barron play LB vs. some better opponents. Not to take anything away from him. The dude is a beast and is an absolute must sign. But San Fran without Hyde and Bush is nothing special, nor was Cleveland last week.

I think Ayers being on the field a lot more affects that. They are essentially playing a third inside safety. At least that's my story. I may be full of crap.

If we have a defense that stops small running qb's and Stout RB's can we leave them on the field with less rotation next week. Bring in Mo Alexander at will as that is undiscovered GOLD also. Everyone on the "D" wants to join in on the party almost to our detriment...AKA 3 guys going for same easy interception knocked each other off the ball. McDonald has a lot of friendly fire hits too. Love the guy.

I saw another pick six by Jenkins missed due to GREAT play by Quinn batting a ball. This "D" is on a major UPHILL RISE. Once they start working MORE together and Ayers and Fairley finally catch up this bunch if not getting penalties with Hayes and Simms balling out like crazy and Joyner trying to play up to his draft spot too. The best drive on us today was a hurry-up drive that caught Aaron Donald on the sideline . Still only resulted in 3 points due to THE SAINT LOUIS RAMS RED ZONE DEFENSE:shocked::headexplosion::shocked::headexplosion::shocked::headexplosion:

Crazy how deep on defense we are all of a sudden, Snisher doing a very nice job stocking this D, Williams using the pieces effectively.

Na, Ogletree is still much better in pass coverage, IMO. But I love the idea of Barron opposite of Tree next season(maybe this season). Barron is a beast against the run and with blitzes.

Like most, I like them together...Like vanilla ice-cream & chocolate syrup....but to answer you question, I think Barron, being in the league longer, plays faster....Tree was just starting to put it together....He was playing otherworldly....I'd hate to lose Barron, but I think he can be replaced, not easy but Greg W. will think of something....I know you saw Mo Alexander today?

We are extremely deep on defense, and Williams is utilizing all his assets....Our team speed is awesome....I saw it in training camp, and it shows up every Sunday....Ogletree is a once in a lifetime talent at LB....Barron is playing outta this world right now...I even like him in coverage. Hard to pick one over the other...but I'll go true LB....Just because I know versus real power running teams, we'll need a real LB...not a SS/LB hybrid player.

Barron is looking like the defensive MVP at this point. Even before the Tree injury he's been making plays, forcing fumbles, wrecking QB's all season.

I think so. 2015 Ogletree was playing lights out prior to his injury, too.

How about Ayers to the bench when Tree is back? Have Tree, JL and Barron starting linebackers

Unfortunately, we tried the Tree as SLB experiment last year and it was not working well. Barron certainly can't play SLB either as he's way to light to hold up there. Aside from special packages, you just can't use Tree, JL and Barron as the base defense. But, we can use a decent amount of those special packages...

I wouldn't say one is better than the other, but Barron is just playing outstanding in this Hybrid LB role. Very impressed.

I thought it's the other way with Barron being better in coverage. Tree looked lost in zone coverage. Barron allows Williams to switch coverages up more which can confuse QBs. IIRC Barron as cover WR/TE one one effectively on a few occasions. As noted neither the Browns or Whiners are offensive powerhouses. It will be interesting to see how he plays next week against the Vikings.
