I just heard from a friend in Seattle that the Hawks are inquiring about Baker Mayfield and Matt Ryan. With either, they will end up #4 in the division. Ryan is better than Mayfield but not by much. He was beside himself going from Wilson to Mayfield. It was rude but I couldn't stop from laughing. The Rams have 5 more years of Stafford and McVay to look forward to.

Yeah, life is good.

Oh my god, could you imagine Baker in Seattle? DK would have an aneurism on the field due to Baker missing him all game
Or Ryan? The only QB in the league Jared Goff could beat in a foot race?
Oh please make it so....

wouldn't be surprised a bit if Ryan ends up in SF to work with Lance

I hate the Seahawks but I’ve got some beloved friends that are Seahawk fans. I want them just to suck enough to miss the playoffs each year. That way my friends still have hope.

Ha. I feel like you want to give them the Jeff Fisher Rams curse. That one's brutal.

Can they afford him? Might as well keep Jimmy?

Ryan still has two years and $51 million left on his deal. If Ryan were to be traded before his roster bonus is due, the acquiring team would then pay Ryan’s $16.25 million salary plus the $7.5 million roster bonus for a total cap hit of $23.75 million in 2022. In 2023, his salary is $20.5 million with a roster bonus of $7.5 million meaning his total cap hit would be $28 million.

When looking at the rest of the league as a reference, Ryan’s cap hit for 2022 would rank him the 10th highest quarterback in the NFL at $23.75 million. His $28 million cap hit in 2023 would also rank 10th among quarterbacks that season. This is not an overly expensive option for a team looking to acquire a starting quarterback.

Baker is better than folks think. He had a clown show for most of his time in Cleveland and he was injured last year. The one year he was healthy with a good coach he looked good. I'm not saying he is the second coming but he still has potential to play well in the right circumstances.

Obviously he's a dickhead but talent wise, I could see him doing OK somewhere. Definitely more potential than Matt Ryan at this point.

Yeah it’s a terrible tease but I kept having hope at least.

But now that you brought it up, I see Pete Carroll as a Fisher clone only with more sideline animation. Fisher had McNair, Pete had Russell. Otherwise neither of them knew how to operate a modern offense and both held their team back with their massive egos.

Baker like Kyler came into the league with poor reading skills. The Rams and everyone else knew that take away their first easy reads and they're toast. Well like Murray, Mayfield has found out that trying to develop that ability isn't so easy at this level where DCs disguise their defenses. Those guys have now become two read QBs. If their early short reads are taken away they struggle under pressure and hope for a dropped coverage. This is what OBJs dad highlighted.

Murray is the better runner of the two by a wide margin. Baker IMO is a backup level talent until he learns how to read defenses. The book on Baker is exactly the same as on Murray. Contain, take away early reads and pressure them. Both had 10 INTs in 2021 and IMO are similar talents as QBs (schematically limited, skill level limited). as both came from "air raid" style college offenses. Trey Lance came from a pass-heavy offense but his college scheme included him under center in a more pro-style offense. He at least came in with rudimentary exposure to reading defenses conceptionally. His not playing in 2021 was to give him time to develop that aspect of his game. That is why IMO his ceiling is higher than either Mayfield or Murray. If Lance can ever master reading defenses as a pocket passer he can become a very dangerous foe in the NFCW.

Murray has had a better team around him but still can't get over that consistency hump. Mayfield is exactly on the same developmental trajectory. Both are dink and dunk type of QBs requiring a strong receiving corps and strong run game support, i.e. neither can really carry a team for a season on their skill set alone.

Wow - yeah okay!! Wonderful post.

There is no way I’m giving Fisher that much credit.Win a SuperBowl ? Don’t move 2 teams & lie that you knew nothing about it for sure the 2nd time.

Gosh I will say Kevin Demoff (us RAM FANS) so got lucky ED29 & Fans called him out at the end of 2016.
Bones took over & couldn’t get a win.
I would have hated to see Les Snead gone & having Fisher for another 2 seasons.

T. Jackson was Carrolls QB for 2 seasons before Wilson. The one season he went to the playoffs & won a game.
The next season they were 7-7 & lost to the 9er at home 19-17 & in OT at Arizona.

The Jets he was 6-10
NE 10-6
9-7
8-8
I guess I’d compare him to Belacheat without the cheating.

He got screwed by the NCAA bad.Anyone who said he walked away from USC doesn’t know integrity. He turned down the Chargers job which IMO would still (SD) be there.

I don’t know why he wants to coach another season? He knew he was going to get rid of Wilson after what happened last season.

I will say I think he was the best coach in USC’s history. I know there were some very good coaches & John Robinson was one of them.. Maybe I’m bias because people have doubted him & he was SC’s 3rd choice.

No matter what anybody wants to say about my posting.Pete Carroll brings a GREAT positive energy & the other guy you names above never did.

Well I guess being an SC fan I know the difference of a FS that was brought up under an ex-coach with The Rams.I don’t think he is as good of a coach as Carroll.
I also like Carroll trusting Wilson in that Int. I would have went in the corner of the end zone though.
A freak Int that cost the Hags the game.
