Should the Rams sign a FA quarterback or possibly draft one with their 3rd round pick? This will allow a few years time to groom the back up qb under Stafford. The 2nd round should definitely be for a Center or LT.

I think you let Wolford and Perkins battle it out. I believe Perkins is the better long term option so hopefully keep him as backup or on practice squad until ready. He is more athletic and has a big arm as well. We need our draft picks for win now players.

Lot of assumptions being made here. We can't be sure that Stafford isn't backing up Wolford ;)

If we traded Goff AND Two firsts and a third for a backup, we really shit the bed on this.

We aren't saving any CAP money this year and next year we could have dropped Goff and get a CAP savings of 12 million and the following year we wouldn't even have a CAP hit.

There are certainly some durability concerns with Stafford.
I'm not saying he's injury prone, but He can get reckless at times.

It's a very real possibility that our back up will get some playing time.

Wolford seems like the likely candidate at the moment.
I dont see us spending the money this year on a veteran contract.
Wolford is cheap, he's already on the roster and McVay seems to like him.

We could draft a QB late, but doubtful they beat out Wolford. If he likes Perkins, just ignore QB.

We are down to three picks on Day 2, with likely five priority depth or starting positions needed:

C
DB
WR
EDGE
ILB

Could get away with no ILB if we have to, but id prefer to lock these all up. Said DB because Burgess can play either NCB or S, so whichever he plays, draft the other for depth.

Ideally we would address one or two of these in FA

How can a Penn State fan and an Ohio State fan be so agreeable on a topic like this?

I think the QB room looks pretty good right now. I'd like to see another dev type at some point if it falls that way just to ensure great camp competition but can't complain with this group.

Stafford will probably put up some big numbers this year. And I love Wolford off the bench that is a quality backup there IMO.

Wolford is the next great NFL QB I think I read it somewhere around here! Kidding aside I doubt we do anything else with the QB room.

I'd like to see the Rams draft a QB in the later rounds, get him on that rookie 4 year contract. Let somebody ride pine carry Staffords pads. The rotating back up on a 1 or 2 year FA deal is a little less desirable when the starting QB is a little long in the tooth

Just listened to a part of the 11 Personnel Rams Podcast.
According to beat writer Jourdan Rodrigue, the Rams plan to have a competition and want someone to fill a Taysom Hill type role.

Bryce Perkins come on down. You're the next contestant on the Price is Right.

I’m not drafting a QB.
Wolford, Perkins and Hodgins will compete for that spot.
Plenty there to find a solid backup.

I want a C/G WR ILB for those 3 positions - best player available at those spots in any order.

I just don't know what we are going to do for a Left Tackle with no 1st round pick in 2022.

With one, we could have used one or two of our 3rd round picks next year to move up and get the guy we were targeting.

Now I just don't know what we are going to do.

Awesome. Now I can openly root for Perkins without some misunderstanding that it means lack of support for the starting QB!

I concur, Wolford proved he could be a capable backup and you have Perkins too, I don't like the Duck, so I'm not figuring him in. Overall, to this point with the limited draft capital, they have to focus Offensive Line because if they are planning on calling more drop back passes, the Offensive Line is going to have to give the QB more time for those plays to develop.
