I know a lot of you guys are big into music. I've been looking to set up a home audio system for a while now and I'm going to be purchasing a receiver within the next month (hoping to find a good Black Friday deal). Anyone have any suggestions or care to share their own set ups?

Eventually I'd like to get a nice vinyl collection going and tie it in with my own mp3 collection on a home network, but that will be a bit further down the line. Any insight if you guys have it would be much appreciated!

I'm more into headphones, but my general rule of thumb is to maximize my value for the price. Denon, Pioneer, and Yamaha are probably some of my favorite Receiver brands for those on a little bit tighter budget, but you can get their models that go upwards of $1000. Just find what inputs/outputs you want, then find your budget.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm surprised I haven't stumbled across that subreddit before! I had been eying Denon, but I'll definitely do some reading and see what's what.

I did a lot of reserch on my last set up ive had going on 3 years now and I love it. I bought a Denon reiciever from best buy, you cant go wrong with any of there stuff its all good just depends on how much power you want and what your trying to do with it. and I ordered a 5.1 speaker set from amazon called Energy it was 399 for the speakers and about 450 for the reciever. Energy is made by Klipsch and it sounds amazing for music, movies, and sports. My dad recently bought a Klipsch 5.1 set for 200 more than what I paid with a pioneer reciever and my system blows his out of the water.
