The 90's were suppose to be the best time of my life but I had parents who didn't believe I should have the same rights as other children. Even at 14 years old, I was not allow to watch WWF wrestling. I wasn't really allow to watch or do anything for that matter that wasn't strictly E or PG rating. Even though I have only watched 1 or 2 full shows during the entire span of the Attitude and most of the Ruthless Aggression era, it will always be apart of my missed childhood.

So I'm not coming from a place of nostalgia when I compare the PG era wrestling today to the past Attitude Era. I give anything to have the attitude era back in wrestling again. I'm purchased WWE subscription in the past but doesn't contain every Raws and Smackdowns shows (it hardly contain any) as it mostly contain PPV's and other videos. There is no way to follow every wrestling feuds, segment/promos like you would if you watched it live back then.

Now I can watch as much wrestling as I want and it doesn't even cater to teenagers/adults anymore. I can't even finish a wrestling show if I try. I had false hope when TNA and AEW debuted but it isn't even close to the WWF. I want wrestling to be apart of my life but I don't know if it ever will.

Do you think Attitude Era wrestling will be back someday or is it gone forever?

The problem with bringing it back will be the cost of viewers who tune in for a more subtle experience. Their numbers are solid, when there were lower the Attitude Era was a way to gain an audience they had lost.

Plus, the McMahons (especially Linda) wanted to clean of the content to help her other aspirations.

So...different forms of greco-roman wrestling? Rulon Gardner redux?

Ruthless Aggression >>>>>>>>> Attitude.

2003 and 2004 Smackdown was grunge AF. Loved that.

Today's wrestling is fine, NXT is fantastic. Smackdown is solid. Raw is boring. But they have the most talent today than any other time, and without stupid gimmicks like vampires.

Man as a kid the 90s to around 2008 was awesome. Kane (with the original mask), Undertaker, DX, The Rock, Austin 3:16 were great. I enjoyed the Goldberg, DDP, Bam Bam Bigelow, Sting, Scott Steiner days as well. Its probably because I grew up but it seemed more entertaining and believable back then. Nowadays it just comes off cheesy and lame. None of the new wrestlers are interesting imo.

I remember watching 1/4 of the Dudley Boyz vs McMahons on Smackdown (before my dad changed the channel) where D-Von, Bubba Ray, & Spike Dudley 3D Linda McMahon through the table!!!!! I've have never consider the McMahon family anything less of being extreme until the start of the PG Era.

I understand what you are saying though and its unforunate that money trump everything else.

I used to LOVE the WWF....and yes, I still call it that. I aint changing cause some animal loving hippies got their way.

I was born in 84 and I remember being a kid and watching Ricky the Steamboat, The Rockers....Surfer style Sting. The Ultimate Warrior.

DX and NSO were probably the epitome of the attitude era. I stopped watching around 2000-2001.

I have no clue about today's wrestling but I wanted to defend the attitude. Everyone knows wrestling is fake. Its a show...a spectacle. Having things like Vampires and the Undead and whatnot was nothing more than bright lights to look at. It was great. Gangrel.....it just hit me what the vampires name was. Lol I tried to turn on wresting some months back and it had one of the Hardy Boys being an alcohalic....wtf?

That was Jeff. They brought in his personal life's (multiple DUI arrests) into a storylines with Sheamus and Elias. It was to put Jeff over as a singles star, because this is probably his last full time run.

Right now the best story is Roman Reigns. That dude is legit scary right now.

The Fiend is second best, but honestly he's becoming a good guy right now, and it just looks...odd. How can people cheer for this thing?

He should be a spectacle, not to be cheered or booed.

The woman's division has never been stronger, either. It's struggling right now because two of the biggest stars are off tv, Charlotte Flair (surgery) and Becky Lynch (pregnant, my favorite wrester). When those two come back, it's going to be a big boost.

The biggest problem is the internet. As more and more leaks came out, people started understanding how they run that operation. Now it's all judged based on what fans think on how storylines should be booked, and get butthurt their fantasy booking doesn't come to fruition. It's looked at a more "real" lens. It doesn't help a bunch of the wrestlers break character on social media or other media appearances.

The problem with Roman Reigns the last time I watched is his mic skill is awful and he can't really wrestle. Maybe he improve in those two areas but first impression really matter. Reigns mic skill is so cringe-worthy that it just ruin any chance for me to take him seriously. Even John Cena was never this awful.

I'm waiting till Covid 19 situation is over because right now the WWE has video fans and its so distracting. Real fans are not that distracting, and I'm trying to focus on the action but yet these screen in the background is bothering my eyes.

Who would you say is your current favorite WWE wrestler today that has the total package in terms of mic work and in-ring skill?

When CM Punk left, it all went downhill for me.
John Cena’s refusal to go heel made it unwatchable.
ive been a fan for 40 years and I just can’t engage any more there just doesn’t have any characters left.

I'm glad I am not alone on this because in the past people have given me a hard time on wrestling forums when I mentioned wanting the Attitude Era to come back. Wrestling suck for a while until Punk went on WWE but that didn't last long. I don't like John Cena, and not only did he ushered in the PG era, but he also seem to destroy potential superstars career. I think he as "fake as a 3 dollars bill".

You really need to watch him now. He's become a legit badass and is down right brutal at times.

Agreed, but still better than the performance center no crowd.

Bray Wyatt. And when she comes back Becky Lynch, who is my #1 favorite today. Waited 10 hours to meet her, and damn worth it.

Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens are the others todag I like. Alexa Bliss is a money talker and actress too.

That fantastic! I'll definitely give Reigns another shot since he always had that look to be a big superstar in the WWE. I still don't understand why the fan video screens in the background is white instead of black? The whole arena is black and yet the background is all white now, its so distracting and not realistic at all.

I also like Becky Lynch and Alexis Bliss. Not a fan of KO or Bray Wyatt but I'm always willing to give them another shot especially with a gimmick change. Due note I don't follow WWE intensively so if KO or Bray Wyatt has a boring match, I tend to be somewhat prejudice as first impression matter a lot to me. I will say that both KO and Wyatt are good on the mic.

Yeah I mean like I said in my earlier posts, Raw has been boring AF. I've missed the past few weeks because of MNF and haven't felt the need to watch them.

I haven't really paid that much attention to the video boards, it's white to probably make it pop a bit more on tv.

I took a look at Raw and Smackdown rosters last night and this has to be the weakest WWE roster to date. I counted maybe 4 to 5 guys that could be or are main-eventers. I look at TNA and AEW as well and they don't have that many main eventers and big name either. I know that Sting went to AEW but not sure if he can still wrestle or not?

Is Raw still a three hours show cause looking at the roster, it look like its only good enough for a 1 hour show.

I saw this women match last night back when TNA was at its best. Women knockout championship between Tara and Mickey James and the match was absolutely amazing! All the moves were performed with perfection and both are amazing wrestlers. Not to mention the fighting and wrestling look believeable. They both have the look and the talent to pull it off. It just goes to show you wrestling is still amazing when its pull off well, unfortunately less nowadays.

Cena is a douche to most people besides kids (so he gets a huge pass on that). He could single handedly revive ‘sports entertainment‘ by going full blown heal.

I’d tune in for that.

I mean he already a real life heel, he just act like a good guy in front of the camera. I think he the worst thing to ever happen to wrestling. He nothing more than Vince bootlicker.
