Silly, I know. Although I drove 48 states and Canada in a Tour Bus, I used to listen to Sirius NFL Radio a lot, but I can't ever remember listening to an audio book.

I like story telling, but I also like to read the actual book and I'm a bit of a snob about it. When Readers Digest used to condensed versions, it would pizz me off! I want to read the whole book so that I felt that I accomplished something. If I was in a Barnes and Noble or Waldenbooks, and I saw an audio book for sale next to a hardback of the same title, I'd wait for the paper back....Yeah, I'm a cheap book snob! :sneak:. I normally buy books on Amazon, Ebay, or Abe Books anymore.

Made an 8 hour drive a week ago and listened to a book on the way down, it was 6 hours and 40 minutes.
That said, it had to be a condensed version.
I prefer reading as well but on long drives it's audio books or podcasts. I love the idea of maybe learning something whilst driving.

I listen to them all the time on my commute. Every one I have ever had has been a completely full version. They actually take much, much longer to listen to than they would to read because they are read out properly and clearly and with some great voice acting sometimes. I use audible, I pay a subscription and it lets me download one full book a month which is plenty because a big one may be 40 hours long.

Right.
So a condensed version at 6 hours or so is perfect for a short drive.

I use audible on my hour long commute every day. I haven't seen a condensed version on Audible yet. All the books, out a vast majority of them, are full length.

They have some great voice actors doing the books too. I highly recommend it.

Yeah.
The one I listened to I don't know if it was condensed or not.
