Welker just turned 34 and may still have a few more years left in him as a slot receiver. I'd rather we go with younger receivers who don't have a history of concussions though. Plus he'll always have that Patriots stink on him. What say you?

Wes Welker still looking for a place to play in 2015

The last time we had an update on free agent wide receiver Wes Welker, the news was that doctors said everything looked good on cognitive tests taken to assess the impact of three concussions over the last two seasons.

That late April word didn’t seem to do much to move the needle for NFL teams, though. Welker said that he wants to play in the 2015 season, but he remains unemployed and hasn’t been linked with any teams over the last month. That hasn’t dimmed his desire to continue his career, however.

“At times you’re sitting there and thinking, ‘Well maybe I should [retire].’ I think it’s just people kind of [pressuring you], but the more you think about it, and you’re away from it, I’m not ready to [retire]. I still feel good,” Welker said on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Toucher & Rich show. “I still feel like I have some really good football left in me. I’ve always said [I’ll play] until the wheels fall off.”

Welker said a return to the Patriots “wouldn’t be the worst situation in the world,” although there’s no sign that the Patriots have any more interest in Welker’s services than the other 31 teams that have left him unsigned this offseason. Between his concussion history, declining production the last two years, age or some combination of those things, there are plenty of reasons why teams have avoided Welker and it may take a negative change of fortunes at wideout for anyone’s mind to change.

Foles to Welker.

Hm. I'd be cool with it. It's unlikely though.

Veteran's minimum with incentives?

Probably not. I don't think the Rams really need a slot receiver, do they?

The question mark is how effective is Quick coming back from injury.

No...the man should hang up the cleats. He is one concussion away from putting on tights and a cape and calling himself Batman permanently

Every time they play that commercial, I fall down laughing! I wish they'd bring it back.

Dude needs to retire. He's had a great career but the concussion issues can't be ignored.

I actually wouldn't mind Welker. He is like the better version of Amendola when healthy and another veteran receiver wouldn't hurt, especially to mentor Tavon in the slot role. Of course you don't pay him big money but he still has production value.

We've debated to death whether or not we have gotten the max out of Tavon Austin (within the system). And to get another "slot guy" whose not as fast and would cost more money, I can't see how that would be a plus for us.

I agree with this however in my bipolar nature it also makes me wonder if for the same reason it might be a guy who Austin could watch, learn and emulate

Woah, we can have animated avatars? I've got to take advantage of this.

No offensse to the OP, but I saw the title of this thread and didn't even want to enter. A former Cheatriot is not someone who I want on our team.

If we went back to 2008 maybe. Nowadays Welker doesn't have much steam anymore.
