A contract year is a sacred thing in the NFL. The average football career is shorter than every other sport, and the majority of players who make it past their rookie deals only get one shot at making the big bucks. After a lackluster free agent group in 2018, the 2019 crop offers a bit more depth. Here are the players who have put their best foot forward in the year that matters the most.
The former Wisconsin offensive tackle graded well in each of his first three years in the NFL but has peaked in his fourth and most important year. Through 13 weeks, Havenstein’s overall grade of 81.7 is good for seventh among the league’s tackles, owing much to his performance as a run blocker, where he’s earned a run-blocking grade of 80.6 – the second-best mark among players at the position.
