Both Brandon Scherff and Rodney Hudson's are free agents in 2020 maybe Washington or the Raiders might bail instead of hoping they will stay. Tough for the Raiders because I am sure they still think they are in the hunt especially with Mahommes issues. Washington is in the NFC and Scherff is probably their best player so I am not sure they are eager to let him go before making a deal especially with the Williams mess but if I were Les I would make the calls.

Scherff is a top 4 Guard and he is a RG - McVay used to be his OC perfect for us except he wants more than 13m per year.

Rodney Hudson was the 2nd best Center in 2018 will he leave the Raiders? He would solve our Center issue that is for sure.

Wasn't it amazing how much better Allen looked with Edwards next to him? I don't think the Rams view center as a problem. Allen is going to be fine with time.

I don't see Allen as a problem either. He needs some time to see if he can clean up a few things up being his first full year.

I think we are one guard away from getting our run game and offense back to championship level.

I love Blythe because he is an excellent technician but he does not have the power to move guys in the run game when needed. Blythe should be a backup, and an excellent one at that, both center and guard backup. Or Maybe Corbett becomes the primary backup.

Blythe becomes a free agent after this year so if they go the Peters/Ramsey route and upgrade Blythe now via trade with a Sherf of someone it would make a lot of sense considering they prob lose him in the offseason anyways.

PFF and Baldy both beg to differ. They both indicate that Blythe and Allen are the biggest problem.

Also the ATL game is not a good indicator. Neither will most likely the Cincy game they are the worst in several areas both on Offense and defense.

We all hope Edwards flourishes. But somehow based on your thesis Noteboom was the problem and with Edwards we have magically solved all our oline woes. I highly doubt that. PFF ranked Blythe 75 out of 76 Guards and Allen 30 out of 32 Centers prior to the ATL game that to me says we have a problem at C and RG. Goff was the #1 most pressured QB prior to ATL. As you can see our oline is the biggest problem.

The Rams must do more than Corbett who Dorsey said was an outright bust now maybe it's the new oline coach bad overall coaching...in any event we must do more before the trade deadline.

So how much would Scherff reasonably cost us seeing as how he is in the last year of his contract? A 2nd round pick?

So Gurley is still a good NFL RB even if he may have lost some of his explosiveness. However, the Rams run game woes are real and its mostly due to the inability of the interior OL to open running lanes like they did the previous 2 years. Edwards may be an improvement over Noteboom in the run game - but something else needs to be added to improve the run game. Is that achieved by replacing Allen or Blythe - or by moving Havs inside? I will leave that up to the coaches to decide but if the Rams are serious about improving their offense an upgrade in the interior OL needs to occur - otherwise the Rams will be one-dimensional on offense and struggle against good defenses. Also - I must admit that I like the Rams trade-happy FO moves. It throws a little gas on the fire!!

Yeah and I like Baldy's breakdowns but tbh what matters with Allen isn't whether he's made mistakes--he has--but whether he can get to the point where he's consistent game in and game out. We're 7 weeks in with 9 to go there is a ton of football to play and whether the Rams replace him this offseason will come down to how he develops.

Same goes for Edwards. He had a very good first game but he is probably gonna rook it up at some point. Will they keep him at LG or maybe give him a look on the edge. All comes down to how he develops and if he kills it at LG then he might get the Saff treatment right out the gate.

Blythe is the guy we know for sure who he is. And sadly we've known that since last year.

Allen is consistent each game. He consistently makes mistakes. He is not the answer at Center.

Hopefully Edwards settles in and Blythe finds a cure for what’s ailing him, but what about tackle? Whit seems to be showing his age and Boom will be out for a year. Who’s playing tackle if Whit retires next year, is he on the roster now? I know it’s a ways off but there was a plan in place for this year and so far it’s not living up to expectations.

Might be looking at a cheap vet one year rental at LT.

I thought that was what Evans job was supposed to be. Maybe Edwards? They both played tackle in college. Hopefully they develop into what Snead thought they could. Edwards looked good on Sunday. I think he’d make a better OLT than Noteboom.

$15m next year - gut prediction
This $23 million some of us are citing is because sites like spotrac and overthecap are already predicting a $15 million increase. At best without moves we’ll have $23 million. Any cap we add this year just reduces 2020’s available cap because we’ll roll over less after this season.
I get people wanting us to trade for an expensive guy on the OLine but they really don’t realize how much that will screw our cap.

Spotrac is citing an $11.mil increase from $188,200,000.mil. to $199mil.
Speculation is that 2020 will offer the largest per team CAP rise since its inception as profits soared last year, so at least there's a chance for that current $23mil Rams CAP to increase somewhat more. jmo.
