I wonder why they wouldn't take advantage of a week of workouts!!?!
Demoff came on here and explained it. There is a mandatory 1 week break you have to take during them and so instead of having a break in the middle of the workouts they are having the break first so there wont be any break when they start.

Whether you start the 3rd, 10th or 17th you still only get the same amount of practices together at team facilities.

The 2017 Los Angeles Rams will kick their official activities in a week with the first post-draft activity in late May.

Here’s the schedule:

First Day: April 10
Phase One: April 10-30
Phase Two: May 1-22
Phase Three: May 23-June 8
OTAs: May 23-25, May 30-31, June 1, June 5-8
Voluntary Minicamp: April 25-27
Mandatory Minicamp: June 13-15

As per the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement:

Phase One consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only.

Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual player instruction and drills as well as team practice conducted on a "separates" basis. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.

Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or "OTAs". No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.

Article 22 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement stipulates that clubs may hold one mandatory minicamp for veteran players. This minicamp...must occur during Phase Three of the offseason program.

Each club may hold a rookie football development program for a period of seven weeks, which in 2017 may begin on May 15. During this period, no activities may be held on weekends, with the exception of one post-NFL Draft rookie minicamp, which may be conducted on either the first or second weekend following the draft.

Former Rams Head Coach Jeff Fisher never used the mandatory minicamp, so there will be a bit of a schedule adjustment for the veterans who have only played under Fisher for their entire NFL careers.

This will be the first time Sean McVay will get to work with the players from the roster that came out of 2016.

Excellent update !! Don't know why a post like this doesn't get bumped up ??

As we can see already McVay enjoys coaching & is far from burnt out. Wade is so cool !! One of the best. This Johnson cat is a heck of a D"Line coach as well. The whole coaching staff was really put together nicely.
-- Having extra trainers only makes sense with such as huge squad & lack of coaching in phase 1 .

Never understood why Jeff Fisher never took advantage of MANDITORY workouts in this day & age of The NFL ?

Fisher seemed awfully laxed about training and practice, no mandatory camps, off days, vet days, I remember a cowboys coach criticizing his intensity when they practiced together. It might be because he was concerned for his players health, or maybe he was wrapped up in his offseason softball game.

was concerned about players health , but I wonder how his change of schedule during the season messed with the coaching ?? He always said the coaches had to put in odd hours before the players came in .
He went against the grain with his game playing & off days. He loved walk through more than solid reps. Freaking mind blowing .

If practice was not important over health of players. Why did The Rams have as many big injuries as other teams.
Why did The Rams have so many Penalties ?
Why were The Rams offense always in the top 30 ?
Walk through a with rookies before the veterans meet ?? Maybe that was a good thing. The Rams rookie did well , until Fisher tried to coach them up the following year. Maybe coaching does work in a more personal level ?

I think other teams had just as big injuries, they might not have seemed big because it's on a different team "who cares"and aside from Gaines there really hasn't been a major injury during TC. Penalties were issues because the Rams under Fisher were young and loaded with attitude, and Fisher's only response to addressing the penalty problem was "we'll get it fixed". Under Fisher his best OC was Schotty, which I think the O was ranked around 24, and it got much worse after he left, and because most of the time a backup was the starting QB.

You may as well have said

"Just a reminder, the collective bargaining agreement is still in effect, and lack of practice time is still fucking with the team, causing increased injuries, and preventing any chance at a cohesive start to the season"

;)

Schotty did real good at Georgia ?

Reynolds got hurt , but during the season he changed things up on the weekely schedule after Shotty left , because Indon't think he was on board with that .
---Plus why would Shorty leave the NFL for Geaorgia ?
Sark just left Bama for Atlanta to be the OC ??
