The Walking Dead post made me remember to post this.

My wife and I really like watching the instant watch TV shows. Love being able to get through several seasons in a week or two. To a lesser extent, we also have shows on our DVD que.

We seem to have this conversation a fair amount with customers in our pub. What are some of the shows you guys would suggest?

And they can be lame too. For instance, we got stuck on Burn Notice and White Collar  The acting is cheesy but we still liked the shows.

But we also watched some really good ones - Dexter, Californication, Sopranos, Carnivale, The League, etc.

Got any suggestions?

if you like white collar, check out psych on netflix

and a show like walking dead (no zombies, but post apocalyptic), is called jericho. although the show was amazing, it wascancelled.

rumors are netflix will pick it up just like how they picked up arrested development, but we shall see.

I don't know if it's on instant watch, but Arrow is a fantastic TV series that reminds me a bit of what Nolan did with the Batman series. It's worth a look.

How could I forget Breaking Bad? Add to that Weeds - those are probably my two favorites.

And the History Channel? I have a couple dozen of those in my que. The Thomas Jefferson documentary is very well done.

Spartacus Blood And Sand.....The best season of any TV show ever IMO. Great acting, great fight scenes, great boobies :woooot: haha. Yea very awesome show. More seasons continued and the final season is on at the current time (on Starz) but none of them can touch Blood And Sand.

RIP Andy Whitfield (The REAL Spartacus)

Is that the one on STARZ or TMC? The soft-core porn miniseries with violence?

lol...Yea thats it. Starz. The show is a historical portrayal of ancient Roman society and the intensity of the content is to suggest an authentic representation of that period. So while the fights are sometimes comic book style, the screen play is accurate to how Rome was back then. Corrupt with blood, scandal, and yes sex.

Blood and Sand (season 1) is awesome and has a great story filled with great actors. I suggest it to anyone who is ok to see the graphic nature of the show, because the show has a story, its not just about boobies haha.

I saw one or two episodes when we were getting Starz for free for a couple of weeks. Man those chicks are hot though. I thought the violence was a little over the top. Not gratuitous or anything, but the slo-mo blood spatters were kinda unnecessary. Liked the storyline though from what I saw. That era, along with medieval themes, are my favorite. Movies like Gladiator, Braveheart, Troy, even A Knight's Tale, are all fascinating to me. Maybe I'll give it another shot, but I have to subscribe to Starz first I guess.

Have you seen the Game of Thrones? That's pretty awesome.

Yea remember the twist with Spartacus is that the fight scenes are comic style, so they never meant that part to be absolutely realistic. You wont need to subscribe Starz because they don't show older episodes to much and they dont have them on-demand either. You may have to purchase the DVD.

Oh yea I love GOTs. When Andy Whitfield died my interest in Spartacus dropped off a little bit (even though I still watch the show). So I started watching GOTs to fill that void and have been hooked every since season 1. I cant wait for season 3! Gonna be so good! I read the first book (basically season 1) last summer. My plan was to finish book 3 before season 3 started, but they are just too long and I didn't even have the time to start the 2nd book being in college having to read books I actually have to haha. But yes that show is great. Tyrion Lannister is awesome! "THE IMP" FTW! haha

Toward that note - Borgia was pretty good. Sufficient enough number of boobies (almost) and a cast that you had to hate but also like somewhat.

Very similar to Tudors - really liked that show too. Borgia is about the Papacy and the politics that went with it.

The seris I found last year that once I started watching I couldn't stop was Sons of Anarchy. Never know what's going to happen next, good acting and well thought out story lines.
I watched 4 seasons in 4 days on Netflix then caught the fifth season as it was broadcast this last fall.

Re-watching the whole series again in my spare time.

Re: Always on the look out for TV shows on instant watch or

So bringing this thread back up. The wife and I have been watching "Rules of Engagement". Took a couple shows to get into it but now into season 5. Pretty damn funny interaction among the characters if you ask me.

Hope they don't ruin it with some toddler trying to be funny. God I hate that. In sitcoms, little kids should be seen (maybe) and not heard.

I love It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It's a polarizing show though, it's the kinda show you love or hate.

Duck Dynasty is pretty amazing. Genuinely good people, just redneck as hell.

If you want the kind of show that builds a story line over the course of a season, Id recommend Sons of Anarchy. It's pretty much a soap opera with sex, drugs, and guns.

really arent too many TV series that grab my attention. When Game of Thrones Season 2 was just starting, HBO had a season 1 marathon and wifey was shocked  that I actually sat in front of the TV for 4-5 hours straight with no sports on !

DUDE! I did the same thing except I just did it a couple of weeks ago and now I can't watch Season 5! Driving me crazy!

Ditto to good watches in SPARTACUS, JERICHO, and TUDORS. I've been watching "HOT IN CLEVELAND" with the wife and that is surprisingly funny as hell.

I was also into PRISON BREAK and hated to see that end. Kinda like LOST, although it could be confusing as hell sometimes.

Been trying to get into ZERO HOUR but I'm not there yet.

The FOLLOWING isn't too bad.

REVOLUTION is pretty good too.
