Matthew FUCKING Stafford.

Many guys with the monster arms lack accuracy and touch. Having a rocket isn't impressive if you don't have those qualities to pair it with. Matthew has it all and he adds additional rare qualities...

Like reading NFL defenses almost without effort, incredible toughness, ability to change arm angles like rubberman, and super human eye control to move defenders where he wants to the point that he can throw NO LOOK passes.

Being able to launch a ball 100 yards doesn't equate to NFL arm talent without additional skills... Matthew has them all in spades.

No Mahomes? I love Stafford, and he’s second on my list, but Mahomes’ ability to change arm angles, even off balance throws that you think can never be made, all the off-schedule maneuvering in the pocket and outside, and still throw an accurate missile is something that is really fucking rare and something I will have to tell my grandnephews and grandnieces about when I’m old and gray.

You’re damned right I’m going to mention Stafford as well, but Mahomes, as much as Collingsworthless deepthroats his DNA rifle, is otherworldly as a player, and a nice guy despite his fame, despite his family. What he’s done with no help other than Kelce is something to marvel at.

I originally went Marino, but George is right-our man Stafford is so maligned, underestimated, and overlooked, I changed my vote. :cheers2:

As for Kermie, I didn't include him for just the same reason. All the drooling over him, yet he disappears and makes head-scratching plays for months at a time. Did anyone even remember the first half of the '24 season, I think it was? He was worse than pedestrian.

Stafford just puts that ball where it needs to be. And it is a laser. And on time.

When it comes to stealing seafood, Jameis will steal your crab legs, but Stafford will steal your soul.

You could say the exact thing about Favre, who has the lead in career interceptions. Are you talking best arm you’ve seen? Then Mahomes absolutely needs to be in the conversation.

Mahomes is a great QB but not a great arm talent guy.
He cant make the throws those other guys can....and thats fine, he doesn't have to.
But, different lists.

Yeah, I don't see it with Mahomes.

If I had to start a team with any QB based on physical gifts it would likely be Elway.
Absolute cannon and a big, strong, fast athlete.
Generational.
But, I guess everyone listed was.
There are plenty of great arms too that ended up not being great QBs.
Jeff George was always one of the best pure arms in the NFL, but, I was amazed the guy could show up to games on time.

Elway was the greatest I think. He could slay you from the pocket, run around in the backfield and buy time for mediocre receivers and then slay you off sched, or run for yardage. Dude could throw it across his body and the field. And not only the cannon but accurate.

Dude went to five Super Bowls. The three he lost those teams had no business in the big dance. I never liked him. Lost money on two of his Super Bowl teams early in his career. But if Elway had been drafted by SF or the Giants in that era he would have a full hand of rings, maybe more.

Same could be said for Marino btw. And I have. But Marino wasn't the athlete Elway was. Dude was a generational prospect who ended up on a team that didn't have the horses early on in his career and still dragged them to the title games.

Missouri homer!

I picked Marino, who was probably the best passer in the 80's.

Mahomes. I saw that guy throw the football out of frickin Arrowhead stadium. He was throwing 80 yards on his Texas Tech Pro Day.

Favre had a bazooka too. And Terry Bradshaw, among QBs who haven't been mentioned yet.

Marino had the quickest release, but Elway had the strongest arm, both in football & baseball and why he was able to control his own density.

I would actually put Stafford above Mahomes if we’re talking arm talent alone. Mahomes often has a weak delivery when he needs power. His legs get him out of trouble Matty Ice could never get out of. But all things considered, Stafford has the better arm and I’d say that Mahomes is a better all around athlete.

Hard to go wrong with either one.

And where’s the love for Pat Haden?

Mahomes had those issues because of his ankle injury not being able to plant and drive. Stafford has a fantastic arm, and I’d gladly put him at #2, but like tempests said, Mahomes’ raw arm strength even with his bum ankle, can still throw a missile.

Let’s look at this from this honest perspective: if you could have any one of those quarterbacks mentioned in their prime, healthy, and young, who would you take? Mahomes would be my number one, and Stafford would be the second. Both of them are able to make arm angle shifts, maneuver the pocket, and do things with a football that most quarterbacks can’t dream of. I think Mahomes has more pure arm strength and overall athletic ability, and Stafford has more touch and is the toughest bastard I think I’ve ever seen on the football field - but it’s very, very close between them.
