Those 5 year contracts is why you don't want to trade down out of the first round. Unless you get extra compensation of course.

Sweet. We're right in that window now.
This year and the next 3 are where we emerge victorious!

Too dramatic?

5 and 4 years of relatively cheap contracts if these guys fulfill expectations. VERY cool. Huh... I wonder why the successful teams believe in building through the draft. It holds true more than ever with the current CBA.

I love it! I'm with you X! I believe, with this O being in the same system for 3 years and another stellar draft in 2014, that the RAMS will be Super Bowl contenders!!!!!!!!

No way bro. I haven't been this excited for a season, maybe ever.
I mean I had a good feeling in 99' but this is just different. Dare I say, Dynasty?

I'll say it, I like the way these guys do business. Be diligent, do your homework, cancel all that outside noise, and when the iron is hot, strike that bad boy. None of this "contracts are trickling in" business, sign a 5th rounder today, 1st rounder next week, just get the OTAs in then get them all done at once.

Yes. I like that they get the guys through "rookie school" and financial education before offering the deals.

Former Dunbar star Tavon Austin has signed his first NFL contract, and it's a big one.

The St. Louis Rams' first-round wide receiver and eighth overall pick received a $12.751 million contract that includes a $7.653 million signing bonus under the NFL slotting system for rookie deals.

Now, Austin will have to deal with the issues that go along with becoming a millionaire.

Following the NFL draft, Austin told the Rams' official website that he has been contending with people from Baltimore wanting money.

“Just people,” Austin told the Rams' official website. "Everybody expects a lot of things from you as far as money. Everybody wants to be around you. My phone doesn’t stop ringing now. It feels like they’re counting my bank account now. So that’s probably the hardest thing for me right now, just people.

“I’ve got a lot of cousins now. The whole [city of] Baltimore is my cousin now. We’re going to just try to keep focused and let my mother and all of them handle it.”

Austin had a stellar career at West Virginia.

He caught 288 career passes in college for 3,413 yards and 29 touchdowns, also rushing for 1,033 yards and six touchdowns.

Last season, Austin caught 112 passes for 1,289 yards and a dozen touchdowns. He rushed for 643 yards and three touchdowns.

Awesome news, I like that they worked on them all together and knocked them all out in one time.. It probably makes negotiations a little easier to be honest, you know they're talking to each other about their contracts, so when everyone else is signing theirs, they don't want to be the only one that doesn't.

I can't wait to see these guys in action.. How many days till the preseason? I want to be on Hard Knocks just so I can get extra time.

Believe it or not, that is the first time I have ever seen the headlines from the STL PD from SB34

Huh. Five year deals for Austin and Ogletree...they must like them a lot; I don't even think Brockers got a five year deal last year.

I like the 5 year deals though. Hopefully they play great and play their careers with us!

Nope. 4 years.

That's 3 first rounders all entering FA at once. Yikes!

WOW! I see a new attitude on this team. I think Snead is destined to take this team to a SB, SOON! He and Fisher seem like a great match.
