Akers coming to camp bigger this year. Is that a good thing?

Akers is looking quite stocky in this pic. He says he intentionally focused on gaining weight. When asked about how much he said "Way, way up". So is this a good thing? Will he be less prone to injury? Will he be able to gain the tough yards this year? Or does the extra weight slow him down?

I haven't seen what he looks like aside from this picture. But someone on youtube said he looked "ripped" during OTA's. I have to think if the weight gain was something he intentionally focused on then he probably did it the right way. We'll see how he looks when they strap on the pads.

I only see the positives in it tbh. He will be a more efficient downhill rusher and harder to bring down I'd think; can only improve his affectiveness, not delude it.

I don’t know if it’s good or bad… but I think it reinforces the idea the Rams will be incorporating a lot more power concepts in their run game.

We'll see how it affects his performance, but if he worked his ass off during the offseason, that seems like a positive. Seems like he's bought in, which was a problem in the past.

I wonder when we'll get to see for ourselves how quick he looks at his new weight. Does he get any preseason reps?

If you have knee or Achilles problems adding weight, muscle can not make those areas stronger.
So, it might be a good thing, might not.
We do not know but tell your what, we will find out.

I will say that the #3, as compared to is old #23, is quite slimming. :laugh1:

He looked lighter to me after the Achilles injury, which makes sense. Getting leaner helps with a recovery like that

Now that he's back to full strength it looks like he added that weight back. I wonder if he's pushing 220 now

IMO it had a lot to do with The Rams RB Coach last season. You could see the difference when Brown was brought back as a veteran RB.Sony should be another good locker room guy for Akers as well.
—Last season it was the opposite of him coming in out of shape & didn’t want to block because he wasn’t getting the Rock!!

Behind the Grid shows how he he & Jefferson have bought into in.If the Offensive Line is as improved as they should be this RAMS OFFENSE is going to be TOUGH!!

I’ll keep calling to sign him to an extension at the End of August.

Snead has his Bobby Wagner Rule when it comes to the draft.
I hope he also has a Todd Gurley Rule when it comes to extending RBs.
