You know he was such an attractive commodity as a young head coaching candidate because by all accounts his brilliant football mind is matched with a tireless work ethic right? And you think he chose the biggest game of his coaching career to take a break. Ok.I know Rodgers and the Packers O were red hot coming in, but no one can tell me Staley's head was all into this game.
I'm sure I'm 100% wrong, but that's just my take.
As I said, I'm sure I'm wrong but the seemingly lack of normal adjustments and performance left me wondering. You know he was such an attractive commodity as a young head coaching candidate because by all accounts his brilliant football mind is matched with a tireless work ethic right? No one can tell me Aaron Donald didn’t want to lose that game...I’m sure I’m wrong so don’t respond and challenge my opinion. His lack of normal production left me wondering. As I said, I'm sure I'm wrong but the seemingly lack of normal adjustments and performance left me wondering.
Either way, I'm extremely thankful for Staley and am quite frustrated to see him go.
I agree with sentiment that we were overmatched by a better team. Not only Donald hurt but Jenkins and Linley and the others were fricken immovable. And that is saying something considering the Dline we have.No one can tell me Aaron Donald didn’t want to lose that game...I’m sure I’m wrong so don’t respond and challenge my opinion. Staley did adjust btw...to stop the run and we got torched. Aaron Rodgers is a future HOF QB leading a potent offense getting torched by them doesn’t mean our defensive coordinator didn’t focus.
The GB oline did a great job but the rams did get some pressure on Rogers, AD had him by the jersey and he still completes the throw, they were a half step away when they were backed up in the end zone. Rogers slides a little and completes the pass for a first down. Sometimes you can be in the right defense and still get beat.I agree with sentiment that we were overmatched by a better team. Staley can’t be blamed for having faced a better front then we could handle. It simply was a tremendous Oline that outplayed a Dline.
Having said that, I would have liked to seen some uncharacteristic Blitz Packages and aggressive pressure. Yea it might not have worked but Zero blitz for example when used unexpectedly can be highly effective and actually is not more risky than other blitz packages.https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2019/case-zero-blitz
A turnover or uneasy Rodgers could have turned that game.
Problem is ...as a coach what do you do to replace Donald’s production/Impact? I don’t think it’s simply a matter of doing more or having a plan. Frankly this is the reason I’m not broken up about losing Staley. I’m sure he’s a bright mind and everything as advertised and don’t get me wrong I’d love to keep him for continuity and all...but as I’ve been saying all year AD and JR are just different. They mask a lot of deficiencies on our defense by just being better than the person lined up in front of them. Or the 3 people lined up in front of him in AD’s caseRams weren't overmatched until it became obvious that AD was JAG due to injury. Period.
Think of the Giants without LT or the Eagles without Reggie White or the Bucs without Sapp in a playoff game. There are some weird takes out there on folks trying to analysis paralysis why GB went up and down the field and scored 30+ on our D.
I wonder if Staley did enough during the week knowing that AD wasn't going to be effective on gameday. I didn't really see a plan. Either way, a 100% AD and that game tells a different story.
Idk. Spend the entire week working on the fire blitz? I'd have started there i think. He's the DC. Whaddya want from me?Problem is ...as a coach what do you do to replace Donald’s production/Impact? I don’t think it’s simply a matter of doing more or having a plan.

Uh what? Have a little respect maybe for the guy about to win his 3rd DPOY. He was playing with torn rib cartilage and only played half of the snaps.
I guess he was emotional on the sideline because he didn't want to win. FOH with that shit.

My mistake I thought the statement was so obviously sarcastic that the blue font wasn’t necessary. Apparently I was mistaken.
I was demonstrating flawed logic by another poster.
No I don’t actually believe AD didn’t care.

You're right though. I made the same point somewhere else. The whole scheme starts with AD and ends with Ramsey. You kinda just make sure everyone else is in the right place at the right time.
