Aaron Kromer, the Rams’ offensive line coach since 2017 and run-game coordinator since 2018, is no longer part of the coach Sean McVay’s staff, people with knowledge of the situation said Thursday.

The New York Daily News was first to report Kromer’s departure, citing unnamed sources in a report that Ben Wilkerson, the New York Giants’ assistant offensive line coach, had interviewed with the Rams. Kromer’s biography is no longer listed on the Rams website.

Kromer is the seventh coach to depart a staff that helped lead the Rams to a 10-6 record and advance to the divisional round of the NFC playoffs.

Defensive coordinator Brandon Staley is now the coach of the Chargers. Linebackers coach Joe Barry is the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach Aubrey Pleasant is now pass game coordinator/defensive backs coach for the Detroit Lions.

Offensive assistant Shane Waldron is the Seattle Seahawks’ offensive coordinator, and offensive line assistant Andy Dickerson is the Seahawks’ run game coordinator. Assistant quarterback coach Liam Coen is offensive coordinator for the University of Kentucky.

Interesting, if our offense regresses, all eyes on McVay.

I think we're just making radical changes to our offensive scheme and Kromer didn't fit the bill for that sadly.

Agreed to mutually part ways? Not leaving for another position? His son is keep his current spot?

I hope all is well with Kromer.

This loss is right there with losing Staley however I don't know if there is a Morris out there to come.

Duke Mayweather?

Weird scary.....unless the master plan is Whitworth to coach save that cap money and trade for Orlando Brown!!!! Just a thought lol

This really is concerning I will say the giants guy was part of a huge turnaround with low round picks for that offensive line. Andrew Thomas took a bit but was coming on and some no names became names so he might have some promise. Might be able to indentify some hidden gems....don't know. Coaches seem to leave ....maybe mcvay is obnoxious lol

Him not leaving for another job would have me a bit concerned for his health. Hopefully he's good. He's been a really solid coach for us, and honestly the only coaching loss for us this offseason that would have me concerned.

Yeah, feeling the same here.

Sudden departures for no other job concern me.

Maybe his contract is up and McVay isn't happy with the job he's done as of late?

I think you may be on to something, though we don't know yet.

This is a very interesting development. Not an immediate firing after the season. Maybe Kromer will be an immediate hire by another team that hasn't become public yet. In any event, he likely won't be unemployed for long.

But more likely it appears to be a breakdown over personnel or strategy moving forward between McVay and Kromer. Something that developed only after discussion about the best path forward, and then a serious disagreement. Otherwise, McVay's practice has been to let coaches go immediately after the season so they can find other jobs.

It could suggest that McVay is focused on the need to improve the offensive line to better fit a revamped offensive scheme and wants go in a different direction than Kromer. But maybe McVay wants to stand pat and Kromer isn't happy. Or maybe it's about whether or not to bring back players such as Blythe and Whitworth.

It will be very, very interesting to get some reporting from the inside about what the hell is going on here.

Is McVay a little tyrant? No one wants to stay. Or is he such a good coach and mentor that everyone wants a piece of his brilliance? Because this is crazy how much of a turnover our coaching staff goes thru every year.

I too hope this is not health related.

Well everyone wanted the OL addressed, well I guess it just did. Maybe the issue with the OL wasn't the players and this is the upgrade? Before i get blasted keep in mind I have no idea or opinion and am just speculating. But I must say that new guy Stafford has be a little giddy.
