Cody Davis RFA tender
Case Keenum RFA tender
Unfortunately, while attention was given to Trumaine and Jenoris, another team gave McCleod an offer he couldn't refuse.
Free Agency:
LB Danny Trevathan 3-yrs 15-Mil
Great quickness and speed for ball pursuit & coverage. The Rams new MLB
DE Jason Jones 2-yrs 8-Mil
Another former Fisher player from the Titans. He is still only 29 with time split between the Titans & Lions. Will provide quality depth at DE.
OG Geoff Schwartz 2-yrs 6-Mil
provides a wider base for Guard, better road grader than Garret Reynolds. Because of recent injuries, will not give him full market value.
TRADE: Heading into the draft, the Rams try but can't agree on terms of a trade up for one of the top 3 QB's. Instead, they trade down with the Jets (#20) and acquire their 3rd & 5th round picks.
NFL Draft:
Rnd 1 pick #20: QB Conner Cook (Michigan St)
Rnd 2 pick #43: TE Hunter Henry (Arkansas)
Rnd 2 pick #45 FS / CB Jalen Mills (LSU)
Rnd 3 pick #76 DT Chris Jones (Miss St.)
Rnd 3 pick #83 (Jets) WR Sterling Shepard (Oklahoma)
Rnd 4 pick #107 (Approx) CB Harlan Miller (SE Louisiana)
Rnd 5 pick #147 (approx) (Jets) LB Antonio Morrison (Florida)
Rnd 6 pick# 175 (approx) WR Roger Lewis (Bowling Green)
Summary:
Rams get the best possible QB considering the situation without much risk. We get the best TE available to give the QB a comfort blanket. We also get the best possible slot receiver in Shepard. Lewis will compete with Britt & Quick on the outside. Mills, from LSU, gives the Rams a potential upgrade at Free Safety with McCleod leaving. Rich Coady, errr, Cody Davis will man the FS spot until Mills is up to speed. DT Jones will fill in behind Brockers and eventually will replace him. He has the similar build to Brockers, tall and lean and plays with good leverage. CB Miller provides good hght (6'0") along with some of the best footwork of any CB in the draft. Gives the Rams options with the NIckel back, or slot coverage. Miller can handle the duty if Joyner has to used at Safety. Last, Morrison is the Rams future @ MLB. He can play special teams while he learns the ropes under Levathan.
