enough to make you sick.

San Francisco 49ers (three): one fourth-rounder (No. 131), two seventh-rounders (Nos. 246, 252).

Depends on how they do vs. how Jared Cook and Jake Long do.

We should hope for no comp picks next year. That means those FAs didn't do shit!

These will probably be canceled out by our acquisitions of Jake Long and Cook.

these compensatory picks are whack - it seems to be compensating poor player management.

Surely you should get compensatory picks for cutting dead wood from your team, not for signing it!

Whats that give them, about 18 this year?
That's like a 3rd of a roster. Even if there all good picks they can't keep them all. And if they are good they will get snatched off the practice squad. What a waste
All they can hope to do is package a half dozen for a higher pick.
It really unfair for the players, they won't get a fair shot in TC and will get cut loose hoping to get picked up by another team that has already set their roster.
They just flat suck.

I don't believe you can trade compensatory picks, but the '9ers have a boatload of picks they may use to try to screw us. I believe the '9ers and 'Hawks' biggest fears is seeing Sam the Ram behind a stout OL with a scary arsenal of weapons to play with. :ww:

San Francisco now has multiple selections in every round but the first and sixth rounds, and also holds four, seventh-round picks.

Unfortunately for them, their first pick in #31 in the first round...With 2 in the 2nd, well this is pretty must like three 2nd rounders and no first in this draft.

Performance has nothing to do with comp picks. It's all based on who you sign vs. who you lose.

Pretty sure performance factors into the equation. That's how you determine what round compensation you get - it's based on how well the guy you lost did in comparison to how well the guy you gained (if any) did.

[textarea]A total of 32 compensatory choices in the 2013 NFL Draft have been awarded to 16 teams, the NFL announced today.

Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more [hil]or better[/hil] compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four. The 32 compensatory choices announced today will supplement the 222 choices in the seven rounds of the 2013 NFL Draft (April 25-27), which will kick off in primetime for the fourth consecutive year.

The first round will be held on Thursday, April 25 and begin at 8:00 PM ET. The second and third rounds are set for Friday, April 26 at 6:30 PM ET followed by rounds 4-7 on Saturday, April 27 at Noon ET

This year, the compensatory picks will be positioned within the third through seventh rounds based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost. [hil]Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors.[/hil]The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

Two clubs this year (Indianapolis and the New York Giants) will each receive a compensatory pick even though they did not suffer a net loss of compensatory free agents last year. Under the formula, the compensatory free agents lost by these clubs were ranked higher than the ones they signed (by a specified point differential based upon salary and performance).

Yeah, it does.

Which is why Cortland Finnegan, Jo-Lonn Dunbar, and Scott Wells > Justin King and Co.
