Rams usually do all of their extensions right before and during training camp/preseason time. No idea why but that's been their modus operandi for years now. Snead even alluded to that timeframe when asked about all of the players who are due for extensions a few months back. So will probably be late July/August before we hear of any. They tend to do all of the rookies at once too well after a lot of other teams have signed their picks. I'm assuming they do this to have a clear picture of what salary cap situation is after offseason is completely over.
Well, last year didn't they do Lake & Landman during the season? I know they did Landman because he was on a 1 yr deal, but Lake was also during the season I believe.

I have feeling McClendon is gonna have a good year at right tackle. If so he'll be a hot commodity in free agency. If they extend him now before he's well known he'll be cheaper than waiting till after the season.
My pondering thoughts on this situation with McClendon.....Long time OL leader RT Havenstein retired when the 2025 season concluded leaving an the back up filled RT post last season.

Rams resigned veteran 37 yrs old RT David Quessenberry very early this season at a economy cost. At the same time they resigned 29 yr old entering his 5th season as a Ram RT AJ Arcuri to a 2 yr contract. Rams on day 2 of April's draft & armed with a very small amount of draft selections... selected primarily a RT Keagen Trost. After the draft Rams signed two UDFA RT's 6-8 Bryce Henderson & near 6-7 Chad Lingberg.

I know that the 2025 position was exceptional played by RT Warren McClendon & have no understanding why he has not been given a new 2 or 3 yr contract for this upcoming 2026 season???

Very Strange NON ACTION thus far.

A bit of a correction on Lindberg; he's projected as a kid who can play every position on the line; people were particularly interested in him as a center, which is what he played at North Carolina before getting hurt and the other North Carolina O-line kid we got as a UDFA filled in. Trost is another who can play every position (center in a pinch and left tackle if - fate forbid - A-Jax went down with an injury), but I think he's best suited at guard (even though I think he'd make a good right tackle, I think Trost would be an elite guard). He's your Dotson/Avila replacement.

Arcuri's presence means nothing to me as of now. I keep hearing that he's done well in the offseason every year, but I've never seen it in action. Honestly, I'm surprised he's still on the team; it proves how much of a dearth there is at offensive line talent, particularly those who can hack a few games as a backup left tackle.

Quessenberry is a backup. A solid one, but a backup nonetheless.

I'm not concerned about a Warren McClendon extension. I suppose they'll want to see how he holds up at right tackle for a second season. If he does well, he'll get an extension before Dotson/Avila. If not, Trost likely takes his place, and we triple-dip at O-line in next year's draft - and we have a good amount of picks to use.

It's not an all or nothing thing, just seems to be a generalized thing that they do.

Arcuri hasn’t showed me anything in pre or the regular season. Bigger question may be, why do the Rams like him so much?

Either that, or
perhaps he inherited the locker with the evidence against Snead and Pastoors from Demby and Reeder.

Same reason they kept Bobby Evans, Logan Bruss and Jamal Demby longer than they should have.

I think Arcuri is pretty much a non-issue.

First-off, he will be 29 before the start of the season, so he is not going to suddenly develop into a quality player.

He has been game-day active (in uniform) just 10 times in 4 years; and eight of those games were in 2022 when half the team and most of the O-Line went on IR. The Rams were signing OL off the street, and starting them on Sunday.

Arcuri’s role has mostly been to practice during the week of a long regular season, allowing veteran O-Linemen (like Havenstein) to have regular off days (maintenance days). He’s been mostly on the Practice Squad; and when he has been on the 53, Arcuri has been the 9th or 10th OL. Teams rarely dress their 9th and 10th OL on game-day.

Just three words needed to answer your question

Ninety man roster

Will he be on the roster after camp? Maybe? Maybe the PS? There are at least 25 players on the roster right now that have close to 0% chance to be on the final roster.

I figure Trost will end up at LG for us to replace Avila after this season. He looks like an interior type to me at this level. Which means for next year's draft they're going to need to take an OT for that swing role once again, and hopefully one who has the feet for the left side so he can back up both spots. No idea how Trost would do if he gets called on this year for LT, and hopefully we won't find out.

If they don't sign McClendon, or if he struggles this year (which I doubt as I think he's going to play well), then maybe Trost goes RT. We'll see. But either way OT feels like it's gonna be a draft need again.

Also expect we'll be looking at C in next year's draft as well. Even if Shelton gets it done for us this year it would be nice to have a good young pivot added to this group who can handle the occasional quality NT el solo without the pocket collapsing.

and we triple-dip at O-line in next year's draft - and we have a good amount of picks to use.
They'll have the OL sorted out before next year's draft. They try hard to not go into a draft with an acute need, especially not one so acute where they need to triple-dip. If they know Stafford is only playing two years, they'll have more money to spend since Simpson is on a rookie contract. I imagine they'll resign a couple out of McClendon, Shelton, Dotson, and Avila.

Yes. Chad Lindberg has shown the ability to play all five OL posts in college. CL has a very good opportunity to stick, at least @ first as a Practice Squad member.

My thoughts here: In the NFL is its a near "unicorn event" when a 6-6 1/2 inch tall OL'er secures a starting OC post.

Its just very hard for me to see CL (with his length) contributing to the Rams as a center. The best might be @ LG where former Ram drafted Dave Edwards has earned a good career playing. I see this starting LG post vacant at the end of the season. Need a good ongoing battle to replace Avila. Perfect post for CL to fight it out for.

One thing apparent to me is the Rams have now collected a good number of center types on the roster far ahead of CL at this time.

Coleman Shelton 6-4/299 31/9 starter
Justin Dedich 6-2/295 26/3 Played in 29 regular season gms with many starts inside OL.
Beaux Limmer 6-5/315 25/3 Ram 6th rd pick played in 21 regular season gms with starts @OC
Dylan McMahon 6-4/305 25/3 Eagles 6th rd draft pick started 1 gm @ OC - Ram since 2024

New 2026 Rams
Austin Blaske
6-5/310 UDFA- He is a center first, has very strong desires loves to play center. A bonified Highly versatile OL'er.
Chad Lingberg 6-6 1/2/ 320 UDFA- Played/started primarily @ OT/OG posts until last season. IMO CL was signed to contend in reserve role on the left side LG/LT.
Keagen Trost 6-5/311- This is the Rams official game day Swing OT/OG. Who else is going to back up @ LT?

This preseason is going to be fun is it not!
