Just ask Kobe (Colorado) he was as you Yoked as Shaq.
You don’t see players getting busted much though in The NFL.
I’m not going to guess if players are doing as much as back in the day.
I knew a guy that was an UDFA for the saints about 10 years ago. He made it until the final preseason game until he was cut and then signed to the practice squad. He basically was rostered on the PS for like half a season so take that for what it’s worth. Things could have changed as well.
They (rookies) had an entire week talking about the NFL conduct policies and whatnot, and were told there are some unspoken rules with policies. They were actually told directly there is no testing during the offseason until OTAs start approaching (there’s a testing start date). From there there are no random tests (only scheduled) until the start of the season UNLESS you’ve failed a test or missed a scheduled test. Randoms can be conducted at any point during the season, but can only be conducted during scheduled team activities (film study, practice). They do not show up at your house for a sample. One thing I found interesting, he also said that if they try a new supplement that is given to them without being tested and they bring forward before pee testing and they pee hot, the NFL will turn a blind eye, provided whatever is in the urine is also in the supplement. This is only for a select list of supplement types like protein, pre workout and others.
So, if everything he told me was true, it would be very easy to do a PED cycle without failing a test and I wouldn’t be surprised if half the league (or more) were cycling in the offseason. There’s too much money at stake in a short period of time to not try to get an advantage if you can.
