Anyone got any "big boards" for us to watch as we look for #9's replacement?
Lots of names being tossed around, but wanted to see if any of you draftniks have a preferential ranking, maybe for who'd be best to back up #9 or eventually take over.
edit: This one literally compares Penix to Stafford. Plug n play?

Not a draftnik and don't have time or the video resources to do a board (respect to those who do btw). But...

Beck and Sanders are returning to school I think. Right now all the lists suck ass because they're not updated to remove the guys who are opting out of the draft.

Penix is an interesting player. Dude has a pair on him in terms of standing tough in the pocket, which is a big part of the equation IMO. I don't think a Stafford comp is a bad one with him. Has that ability to keep his eyes downfield and he's tough like Matt is.

Assuming the Rams don't go QB early, the QB I want them to go get is Sam Hartman. I think he's a backup at the NFL level but he's smart and instinctive and can handle a high pass volume. So add him to the depth chart in say round 5 and go with a QB room in 2024 of Stafford > Wentz > Hartman.

I'd strongly consider Spencer Rattler on Day 2, personally. Rattler looked like a future top 10 pick as a freshman at Oklahoma. He faced some adversity, didn't handle it well, and lost his starting job to Caleb Williams. He transferred to South Carolina and improved leaps and bounds during his time there.

This year, Rattler had multiple top WRs get hurt, very little help from the running game for most of the year, a terrible OL, and a defense that struggled for much of the season. His only real help this year was WR Xavier Legette. Yet, Rattler continued to make plays, played quality football, and was a leader for the team when he very easily could have gotten fed up and pouted.

While Rattler isn't a big QB at 6'1" 215, he has a rifle for an arm, a high release point (with the ability to change arm angles), a lot of elusiveness in the pocket, and the mobility to hurt defenses if they forget about his legs. He also has the accuracy to make some "wow" throws. Frankly, he has a lot of Matt Stafford to his game, good and bad. He's a gunslinger who will take some bad risks and turn the ball over, but he'll also make some throws that just blow you away due to his high-level arm talent.

This is a kid who has a ton of natural ability, showed he could play quality football with very little help, and has shown a lot of growth in the past few years. I think he could really blossom learning the game from Stafford, being coached by McVay, and playing in our system. Rattler still has first round ability, yet he'll likely be available in the 40-70 range. Could be a steal for us.

Sounds like he’s matured a lot - would be keen to see him in horns

Jrry, I watched the vid of Rattler you posted and came away amazed at the performance of......Xavier Leggette!!!!
What do you know about him? Where do you see him going in the draft?
I, for one, definitely see the Rams going Wide Out somewhat early in this draft what with the injuries to Kupp and that Atwell will be a Free Agent after next year....so we are probably going to pull the trigger on one. Would you like to see Mr. Leggette in Rams' horns???

BTW I agree with you that Rattler has a lot of the qualities one looks for in an NFL QB. If he's available on the 2nd day we gotta seriously consider taking him!!

Michael Penix is looking great tonight.
Love his toughness.
He’s made some great throws under pressure.
He’s incredibly accurate.

I’d like to see more air under his deep ball, but he looks amazing.

I don’t get to watch much College ball, but it’s fun seeing the draft prospects.

I really like QB's like this. The guys playing on crap teams who put it on their backs. Has wheels, is reasonably accurate, and can throw on the run very nicely. That TD throw to the back of the EZ was NFL-level.
That said.... that Legette kid.... would LOVE to see him in horns too.
ps that 'Zoo defense... wow. Tigers were def a force this year.

Penix injury history scares the hell out of me.
